GUIDELINES FOR PRESENTATION OF SIWES REPORT FOR B.

SC (HONS)
PROGRAMMES OF FEDERAL UNIVERSITY KASHERE, GOMBE STATE

A. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. All SIWES reports must be written in English.


2. It should be typed in double line space leaving one inch margin on left side, half inch
margin of the right side, justified Alignment and Arial font.
3. After completion of the SIWES, candidates will have to undergo a preliminary oral
defense to be arranged internally by the Head of the Department at a convenient time.
4. After the Defense, candidate will incorporate the suggestions and corrections and then
submit the revised and corrected copies to the department within one (1) week of the
defense and assessment.
5. A candidate who fails the examination shall be treated according to the University rules

The following shall be on the title page (written in capital letters):

 Title of the Report


 Name of the Student
 Registration Number
 At where the student did the training
 A Report Submitted to the Department of Computer Science / Faculty of Science, Federal
University of Kashere, Gombe state in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirement of the
Completion of Industrial Training
 Month/Year

2. Declaration

I hereby declare that this work is the product of my training effort, undertaken under the
supervision of …………………………………. and has not been presented and will not be
presented elsewhere for the fulfilment of any Industrial Training requirement.

4. Acknowledgement

This should contain a brief of appreciation to all those who contributed to the success of the
study such as Name of University SIWES Director, Name of the Departmental SIWES
Coordinator, Institution based supervisor, Industry Based Supervisor, Departmental based
Supervisor followed by others you wish to include.

5. Table of Contents

This is a list of the sections and subsections of the project report and indicating the page they
occur.

6. List of Tables/Figures/Plates/Appendices

In the list of tables, figures, plates or appendices where the title runs more than one line,
subsequent line must be single spaced not indented.

7. Abbreviations, Definitions, Glossaries and Symbols

Explain all abbreviations and symbols. Define terms.

Chapter 3: Application of Knowledge

Chapter 4: Summary, Conclusion and Recommendations

Chapter One: Introduction

Introduction: This chapter should consist, at least, the following sections:

a) Introduction to SIWES

b) Aim and Objectives of SIWES

c) Basic Definition of IT Place

d) Organizational chart of IT Place


Chapter Two: Work Experience

Work Experience: This chapter gives detail of work experience during the SIWES period

Chapter Three: Application of Knowledge

Application of Knowledge Acquired: This chapter should describe the application of knowledge
acquired, given specifically how the knowledge was applied to solve an immediate problem.

Chapter 4: Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation

Summary, Conclusion and Recommendations: This chapter presents the summary which
highlights of the experience gained. The conclusion gives the inferences drawn from the
findings. The recommendations shall list possible ways of solving the problems identified
encountered by the student during IT period or areas for further exploration/improvement.

C. SUBMISSION OF SIWES REPORT

i. Prior to Oral Defense Spiral copy of the SIWES report signed by the supervisor and student
should be submitted to Departmental SIWES Coordinator by the student with log books all
signed by the Industrial Supervisor. The Departmental SIWES Coordinator will fix a date for the
oral examination in collaboration with the HOD.

ii. After the SIWES Defense:

 All corrections should be effected by the student before spiral binding the report

D. NUMBER OF COPIES

Two (2) copies of the approved report should be submitted to Department.
