Issue
After upgrading to U-Series appliance management software, some password changes
are not occurring.

Error
Password Change error in pmm.txt (version 6.x) log file or pbsm.log (version 7.x and up):

Negotiation failed. The client and the server have no common key
exchange algorithm.

Cause
In Appliance Management 2.3.0 and higher some insecure ciphers have been disabled. In
some older devices that require these ciphers password checks and changes may fail.

Information
This issue occurred in versions BeyondInsight 6.x and with managing passwords on older
operating systems, applications or devices. We recommend upgrading to a modern
operating system or device whenever possible. Check what TLS ciphers is needed and if
there is an updated version with a newer more secure TLS version or cipher Suites. The

information below is how to check the version on the appliance to provide to your security
team. If you need to enable a different version, check with your security team first. If you
decide to change TLS version or cipher suites enabled, ensure it is done on every
appliance.

How to check the TLS version and cipher suites


Before changing any cipher settings you should ensure to speak with your information
security team or whoever manages security for your network as changing cipher suites
can affect communication between applications and servers & the cipher version may be
required to meet security accreditation standards

Setting on the Maintenance Page


1. Go to https://appliance-name/maintenance page.

2. Navigate to Menu > Security settings

3. Scroll down the page so you see Security Protocol.

1.Download a tool IIS Crypto from the following link:


https://www.nartac.com/Products/IISCrypto/

2. After downloading and extracting it please put the IISCrypto.exe in Downloads folder on
your appliance.

3. Run it and click on Schannel and take a screenshot.

4. Then click on Cipher Suites and take a screenshot.

5. Do not make any changes to the appliance just click the X to exit the utility
