Natural Disaster
( For example- earthquakes, droughts, storms, floods, volcanic activity, extreme
temperatures, landslides, wild fires, dust-storms, cyclones , tsunamis, and other geologic
processes.)
OR
Man Made Disaster
( For example- chemical spills, hazardous material spills, explosions, chemical or
biological attacks, nuclear blast, train accidents, plane crashes, or groundwater
contamination.)
• Use pictures, newspaper clippings, magazine articles etc. Pictures/graphical presentation of data/
newspaper clippings can be printed.
• Project should be on A4 size paper, use of coloured papers allowed.
• Minimum of 10 pages; maximum 15 (excluding the cover page, index etc.)
• Students are free to make models related to the topic chosen by them along with brief handwritten
information.
The projects and models prepared should be made from eco-friendly products without incurring too
much expenditure .Use the materials which are easily available.
The Project is about Disaster Management hence its COMPULSORY to include mitigation strategies
in project in brief.
Disaster Management /Disaster Mitigation Strategies - Disaster mitigation measures are those that eliminate
or reduce the impacts and risks of hazards through proactive measures taken before an emergency or disaster
occurs. Disaster Management as an integrated process of planning, organizing, coordinating and implementing
measures which are necessary for-
Prevention of threat of any disaster
Reduction of risk of any disaster or its consequences
Readiness to deal with any disaster
Rescue and relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction
Then provide pair State specific information – main causes of cyclones in Maharashtra and Odisha ,
examples of some major cyclones incidents in Maharashtra and Odisha; Any specific mitigation
strategies adopted by these two states etc.
