1. Out of the 9 outstanding students in a college, there are 4 boys and 5 girls. A team of 4 students is to
be selected for a quiz programme. Find the probability that two are boys and 2 are girls.

5. A committee of 4 members is to be constituted from 10 men and 6 women members of Parliament.
Find the probability of having women majority in the committee.
6. A committee of 5 Principals is to be selected from a group of 6 Male Principals and 8 Female Principals.
If the selection is made randomly, find the probability that there are 3 Female principals.

red ii) both are kings iii)both are face cards.
14. The probabilities that a student will receive A, B, C or D grade are 0.40,0.35,0.15 and 0.10 respectively.
Find the probability that a student will receive i) not an A grade. ii) B or C grade iii) atmost C grade.
15. If the letters of the word ASSASSIN are written down at random in a row , find the probability that no
two S’s occur together.
16. Three boys and four girls line up in a row for a photograph. Find the probability that none of the boys
stand together.
17. The odds in favour of a candidate A to win an election is 1:3 and for candidate B it is 1:2 and for both it
is 1:7 . Find the probability that i) at least one of them win the election. ii)Only one of them wins.
iii)only A wins.
18. What is the probability that i) a non leap year has 53 Tuesdays ii) a leap year has 53 Wednesdays iii) a
leap year has 53 Fridays and 53 Saturdays .
19. A , B and C are three mutually exclusive and exhaustive events associated with a random experiment.

20. What is the probability that two friends have the same birth days in a non leap year.
21. Two students Anil and Ashima appeared in an examination. The probability that Anil will qualify the
examination is 0.05 and that Ashima will qualify the examination is 0.10. The probability that both will
qualify the examination is 0.02. Find the probability that (a) Both Anil and Ashima will not qualify the
examination. (b) Atleast one of them will not qualify the examination and (c) Only one of them will
qualify the examination.
22. If 4-digit numbers greater than 5,000 are randomly formed from the digits 0, 1, 3, 5, and 7, what is the
probability of forming a number divisible by 5 when (i) the digits are repeated? (ii) the repetition of
digits is not allowed?
23. A committee of two persons is selected from two men and two women. What is the probability that
the committee will have (a) no man? (b) one man? (c) two men?
24. Find the probability that when a hand of 7 cards is drawn from a well shuffled deck of 52 cards, it
contains (i) all Kings (ii) 3 Kings (iii) atleast 3 Kings.
25. Out of 70 students, two sections of 30 and 40 are formed. If you and your friend are among the 70
students, what is the probability that (a) you both enter the same section? (b) you both enter the
different sections?
