Programme’s Presentation
The Master’s in Global BIM Management prepares participants to lead the paradigm change
that BIM will entail for the construction sector during the next ten years. Our program addresses
the management of the latest technologies applied to built assets, from the planning and
design phase, through construction while considering its subsequent connection with the
maintenance of buildings. In addition, the professional will learn to implement the BIM
methodology in organizations and manage all processes, equipment, and workflows involved.
The BIM methodology is based on a virtual model and management of information throughout
the life cycle of a project. This requires stakeholders such as architects, engineers, builders,
developers, financiers, asset managers, and facilities managers to understand what it is and
how to handle BIM tools to carry out their respective responsibilities. The person responsible
for the implementation and management of collaborative teams under this methodology,
whether it is in an architect’s or developer’s office, in a construction or engineering office, in
materials manufacturing or public administration office, is the BIM Manager.
This Master’s has the most advanced and innovative academic programme in BIM Management
in the sector, in which more than 600 professionals are trained every year around the world. The
programme is designed to meet the needs of professionals from more than twenty sectors of
the Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Owner (AECO) industry. Its academic structure
offers participants the methodology, tools, and competencies necessary to train the next
leaders in BIM implementation and prepare different profiles that will help to realize the change
of paradigm: BIM Managers, Implementers, and Consultants.
The Master’s in Global BIM Management presents a genuine experience and helps participants
gain a global vision. The programme encourages collaborative working with counterparts in
different geographical areas, enriching professional development within an increasingly
competitive global market.
All the Master’s programmes offered by ZIGURAT Global Institute of Technology link academic
knowledge with professional requirements. In order to guarantee an immersive experience in the
industry and link the academic with professionals, ZIGURAT counts on organizations and
influential experts in the sector.

Our pedagogical methodology allows the participants to grow through the action and the
‘learning by doing’ experience, acquiring knowledge of their specialization while simulating real
projects. This type of methodology allows them to develop the competencies of professional
roles firsthand by getting involved in a real project with its processes, information flow, delivery
of documentation, as well as familiarize themselves with the presentation and communication of
projects in a collaborative environment in general.
Focus on methodology
BIM technology needs as the main background a
strong methodological approach which, alongside
digital tools, allows to achieve a high degree of
efficiency and successful implementation within
the AECO sector.

Introduction and development of the BIM technology from its methodological perspective,
based on the application of protocols and standards for the efficient exchange of information
throughout the entire life cycle of the building domain assets, using the OpenBIM approach as
the main strategy for such a goal.
This block will provide the training for the production and integrated management of BIM
models in the design phase, either in native or open standard formats. The participants will go
through their creation using one BIM authoring modelling tool (choosing between Autodesk
Revit or Graphisoft ARCHICAD), and many other ones for information management, geometrical
and content quality control between disciplines (architecture, structures, and MEP) as well as
interoperability practice with tools of structural, MEP or visualization analysis. The participant
will also be trained in BIM project management, with methods such as Agile or Lean, regarding
the different phases of the life cycle.
GBIM1124/ 7
B3. BIM for Construction
This block will provide training for the production and integrated management of BIM models in
the pre-construction and construction phases. Participants will go through their creation using a
different BIM authoring modelling tool (switching to Autodesk Revit, Graphisoft ARCHICAD or
Tekla Structures, depending on BIM for Design choice), using open standards as information
exchanging format, and many other platforms for information management and geometrical and
content quality control, site management platforms and their connection with time planning
software and BIM cost estimation.
This block, distributed throughout the entire programme, will provide training in the knowledge
of the different standards that apply to building assets management. The participant will learn
how to manage the progressive information flows, and data drops by using different open
standards and native tools, whether in the design phase, pre-construction, construction,
as-built or operations and maintenance.
This block will provide training on BIM implementation techniques in organizations of the
construction sector within the building domain, in any phase of the asset life-cycle, such as
design, construction or operations and maintenance stage. Early on, there are several areas
considered in strategizing around the development of BIM Implementation and the whole
roadmap. It is crucial to maintain those processes wisely. The question is: how to do it in a
correct manner? In this Block, the participant will learn to analyze organizational environments,
choose between different strategies depending on organization types, analyze their internal
processes, IT and human resources, evaluate their suitability for the BIM, design the BIM
implementation plans by designing BIM training plans, Pilot project strategy design, as well as
metrics creation and management for implementation plans validation. Those activities will be
useful for different sizes of a company - from freelance practitioners to organizations.

B6. Final Master Project
The Final Master Project is a real project simulation-based exercise to be developed using the
openBIM approach, from the very early stages of the Master’s, which will allow the participants
to input all the knowledge acquired during the sessions. The lecturers in each of the modules
will also use that project as the goal of the exercises that they will propose to the participants.
The purpose is, on one hand, to demonstrate how an OpenBIM workflow can develop an
integrated project producing all deliverables of a real Building Project and how it enhances the
project development compared with traditional methods.
On the other hand, this exercise becomes a suitable scenario to simulate an integrated project
delivery throughout the life cycle of the project, allowing the role of the owner, in our case
carried by the assigned mentor, to interact with the whole team from the beginning, exchanging
information and feedback at every cycle. To achieve that goal, the participant will embrace the
management of this project using Agile methodologies, planning its cycles according to the
Final Master Project required Roadmap and milestones.
