Script for Program

Introduction to the Concert:

● Hello and welcome to the 5th Grade music program, “Wild About Music!” My name is Ms. Katherine Vaughan and I
am currently the music student intern working with Mrs. Laurie Davis.
● I have had the privilege to work with your students for the past 8 weeks and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
● During the 8 weeks, we worked on many things, including: guitars, recorders, percussion instruments, chords and
chord progressions, and, of course, the music you are about to hear.
● Our music for this concert is focused on the autumn, from things we like about it, to maybe things we don’t like as
much. We are excited to show you what we’ve learned!
● We will be starting with the song “An Autumnish Feeling.” Please enjoy!

Sing An Autumnish Feeling

Transition: Hand out scarves to students (Olivia, Isaac, Alberto, Louken, Evelyn, Meric, Myannah, Marcus)

Introduction to Los Colores De La Vida:

● Thank you! This next song is not exactly about the fall, but it describes a lot of colors that we see in the fall. This is,
Los Colores De La Vida.

Sing Los Colores De La Vida

Transition: Scarves away and Mrs. Lee’s class move to seats with sheet music stands for recorder.

Introduction to Gotta BAG These Leaves:

● Thank you! Special thanks to those students that used the scarves. This next song is about one of my least favorite
parts of the fall, bagging up all the leaves.
● It is called Gotta BAG These Leaves and features Mrs. Lee’s class on recorder.

Sing Gotta BAG These Leaves

Transition: Mrs. Lee’s class back to spots on riser, Mr. Simon’s class to seats with sheet music stands for guitar, and hand
out rhythm sticks to Ortiz’s class.

Introduction to Chan Mali Chan:

● Thank you! Nice job to Mrs. Lee’s class on recorders. This next song is not about the fall, but is a folk song from
Malaysia about losing a little goat. Mr. Simon’s class will be playing guitar and Mrs. Ortiz’s class will be playing
Polynesian rhythm sticks on this song. It is called Chan Mali Chan.

Sing Chan Mali Chan

Transition: Mr. Simon’s class back to risers, collect rhythm sticks from Mrs. Ortiz’s class.

Introduction to There is No Time Like the Autumn:

● Thank you and an awesome job done by Mr. Simon’s class on guitar and Mrs. Ortiz’s class on the rhythm sticks.
● This last song has two very different opinions on the fall. Listen closely for the two parts. This is There is No Time
Like the Autumn.

Sing There is No Time Like the Autumn

Closing:
● Thank you so much for coming; it means a lot to the students and to me as well. It has been a joy to work with
students at Northview. Thank you again and have a good evening!
