Question 1[Multivariable Calculus]

1. Find all stationary points of
f (x, y) = x3 − 8y 3 − 2x2 y + 4xy 2 − 4x + 8y

2. Find the normal vector for the point (−2, 1, −3) for the surface

3. Find the directional derivative of
f (x, y, z) = x2 + 3xy 2
at P = (1, 2) in the direction toward the origin .
4. Find the integral of
1
f (x, y) =
(2x + 3y)2
for 0 ≤ x ≤ 1 and 1 ≤ y ≤ 2.
5. Find the limits for the double integral and evaluate the integral value:

R

under the region bounded by the polynomials:

x and x3
6. compute the double integral

and write an equivalent integral with the order of integration reversed.

7. For the cylinder of radius 3 and height 5 given by
(x2 + y 2 ) = 32 and 0 < z < 5
(a) let the charge density be proportional to the distance from the xy -plane. Find
the total charge on the cylinder.
(b) Let F be the vector field F(x,y,z)=(2x,2y,2z). Find the integral of F over S.
(Note that “cylinder” in this example means a surface, not the solid object,
and doesn’t include the top or bottom.)

the tank at the rate of 4 gallons per minute. At the same time, the tank is
being drained at the rate of 4 gallons per minute constantly,Assuming that the
solution is stirred constantly.
