Young Chess Player

Maria Lee is a chess player. She started learning chess with her father when she was
eight years old. Every evening, she played with her father and her six-year-old little brother at
home. She was trained by her dad for four years. Maria loved playing with her dad, and soon
she became very good at it.

Now, Maria is 12 years old, and she plays in many chess competitions. She travels to
different cities for matches and enjoys meeting new people. ‘Winning is great,’ she says, ‘but
the best part is making friends from different places.’

When Maria is not playing chess, she likes reading books. She loves funny stories and
always looks for books that make her laugh. ‘My brother like history and adventure books,’
Maria says, ‘but I prefer something that makes me happy.’

In the future, Maria wants to keep playing chess and improve herself. She also dreams
of becoming a teacher. ‘I want to teach children and show them how fun learning can be,’
Maria says.
