Green Building
The Practice of Integration

We can’t rely on superior design talent alone to get superior
results. That’s why the integrated design process is so
important.
Effective integrated design can produce significant innovations and
cost savings simultaneously.
High-Performance Building Characteristics
• A green building is one that considers and then
reduces its impact on the environment and
human health. A green building uses considerably
less energy and water than a conventional
building, has fewer site impacts and generally
higher levels of indoor air quality. It also accounts
for some measure of the life-cycle impact of
building materials, furniture and furnishings.
These benefits result from better site
development practices; design and construction
choices; and the cumulative effects of operation,
maintenance, removal, and possible reuse of
building materials and systems.

Sustainable site: Erosion and Sedimentation control
From google I can found explanations, for example:
Erosion Control is the process whereby the potential for erosion is minimized; and. Sediment
control is the process whereby the potential for eroded soil being. transported and/or deposited
beyond the limits of the construction site is minimized.

How can you prevent sedimentation? •

Remove sediment from the channel frequently. Line the channel with erosion control mats or turf •
to prevent soil erosion, or use check dams constructed from sand or gravel-filled bags.
Uncontaminated stormwater from the channel should discharge to the stormwater system
Indoor Air Quality
What is a good IAQ score?
The greater the AQI value, the greater the health concern or air pollution
is. The level to protect the public's health, determined by the
Environmental Protection Agency EPA, is 100 — 50 distinguishes good air
quality and anything over 300, is represented as hazardous

7 ways to improve indoor air quality and reduce air •
