Let p and q be the propositions
p: you drive over 65 miles per hour
q: You get a speeding ticket
Write the following statements using p, q and logical connectives.
a) You drive over 65 miles per hour, but you do not get a speeding ticket.
b) If you do not drive over 65 miles per hour, then you will not get a speeding
ticket.
c) You get a speeding ticket, but you do not drive over 65 miles per hour.
d) Whenever you get a speeding ticket, you are driving over 65 miles per hour.
e) You do not drive over 65 miles per hour.

Given the following argument, determine whether it is valid or invalid by


constructing a truth table.

Premises:

1. If it rains, the ground will be wet.


2. If the ground is wet, the plants will grow.
3. The plants did not grow.

Conclusion: Therefore, it did not rain.
