Vector Operations
Vectors are quantities that have both magnitude
and direction. Operations on vectors help solve
problems in physics, mathematics, and
engineering, especially when dealing with
quantities like force, velocity, and displacement.
Below are the key vector operations.
Q1. Vector A represents 5.0 m of displacement east. If vector B represents
10.0 m of displacement north, find the addition of the two displacements (R).
Q2. Determine the x and y components of a displacement
whose magnitude is 30.0 m at a 23° angle from the x-axis.
Q3. Find the x and y Components of the vector A=10m at 60°, first draw
the vector in standard Position Then draw a right triangle, where the legs
represent the X, Y Components. The Absolute value of the X Comport of
the vector is the length of the side adjacent to the 60° angle, therefore to
find x component.
Q4. Get the Absolute value of Y-Component of the vector is the length
of the side opposite the 60° angle, therefore, to find The Y Component.
Q5. An airplane takes the route shown in fig., first it flies from the origin of Coordinate system
Shown to City A, located 175 km in a direction 30° North of east, next it Flies 153 km 20° west of
north to city B. Finally, it flies 195 km due west to City C "find The Location of city C relative to
the origin
Q6. given two vectors A = 2 i +4j + 5k and B= i+3j+6k find the Product
A.B and the magnitudes of A and B. What's the angle between them?
Q7. Vector A represents a displacement in meters expressed in unit vector notation as
A = 2i + 6j + 3k
Vector B represents a second displacement.
B = 5i - 3j – 2k
Find the dot product of the two vectors, the cross product of the two vectors, and the angle between them.
