Title, Subtitle, and Subheading are important elements in reading material, helping to structure and

guide the reader through the content. Below are explanations for each term, along with examples and
their functions.

1. Title

 Definition: The title is the main heading that introduces the overall topic or theme of a text. It is
usually the first thing a reader sees and gives a clear idea of the subject matter.

 Example: "The Enchanted Forest: A Journey Through Nature’s Mysteries"

 Function:

o Captures attention and sets the theme of the text.

o Provides a broad idea of what the text is about.

o Helps the reader decide if the text is relevant to their interests.

2. Subtitle

 Definition: The subtitle comes right after the title and offers additional information, often
narrowing down or clarifying the focus of the text.

 Example: "Exploring the Magic and Myths Hidden in the Heart of the Woods"

 Function:

o Expands on the title by providing more context.

o Offers a brief overview of the content or the approach the text will take.

o Helps clarify the specific angle or sub-topic the article will explore.

3. Subheading

 Definition: Subheadings are smaller headings that divide the text into sections. They organize
the content, making it easier for the reader to follow and understand.

 Example:

o "The Mystical Atmosphere of the Forest"

o "Rumors of Danger: Fear and Superstition Among Villagers"

o "A Majestic Encounter: The Deer and Its Symbolism"

 Function:

o Breaks the text into manageable sections, guiding the reader through different parts.

o Makes skimming and scanning easier by allowing the reader to quickly find the
information they’re looking for.

o Enhances comprehension by introducing the main idea of each section.

Summary of Functions:

 Title: Introduces the main idea or theme.

 Subtitle: Provides more detail and context about the specific focus.

 Subheading: Divides the text into sections, making it easier to follow and helping with skimming
and scanning.

Each of these elements plays a role in enhancing the readability and structure of a piece of writing,
helping the reader engage more effectively with the content.
