If the utilization of a cell is low and its still having blocking check for hardware issue
For high utilized cell, try changing FRL FRU Parameters in the cell
Enable Direct Retry in the cell
Enable Traffic based handovers
If still there is blocking add TRXs if configuration is less than 4 in case of ultra/flexi and 6 in
case of MR
SD blocking
TCH drop
HOSR
Check for the neighbours which are causing degradation in HFR
Delete the neighbour if its unwanted
Check for hardware issue in the target cell
Change the value of SL to -90 and QMRG to 3(check for degradation in DL quality as well)
TASR
Check for the 7745 channel failure alarm. Lock the faulty TRXs/timeslots
Change TRP parameter to 1 and BFG to 2
Follow steps mentioned in TCH blocking KPI if TASR is degraded due to TCH blocking
SD drop
Lock the timeslot which is having high SD drop(in case of channel failure alarm starting with
02)
Change T200S(BCF level) to 1000
Change RXP to -102
Paging Success Rate
In case of high paging load, perform LAC splitting
Change AT (Repaging attempts)=2, INT(Repaging interval)=500 ms
Condition 1: If The reason for the call block is "No Immediate Assignment" that means
-> No SDCCH Available.
-> Now Solution is Need to Add SDCCH Channel or Change TCH to SDCCH if already
maximum TRx added.
Condition 2: If Call Block message having "No Traffic Channel Assignment" means Block call
due to TCH are not available.
-> In this case need to add TRx or if max TRX already added can change channel from TCH/F
to TCH/H or Change Etilt/Mtilt means decrease Traffic or User and shift on Neighbor site's
cell.
Qns 2: If Drive Test engineer is making a call and facing call block issue and having Reason in
Layer-3 message that "No Alert or Connect", What may be the issue there?
Ans : There may be 1) Hardware Problem means UE Problem and 2) Bad Radio Condition.
Qns 3: If DT Engineer is facing Call drop issue due to bad radio condition Because of Missing
Neighbor what message he need to check?
Ans : Drive Test Engineer need to Check in Tems Investigation logs in Layer-3 message
Called : System information Type 5 and System Information Type 5ter.
-> In these messages he will get channel information like : 55,65,66,75,78,79,81..
-> If the frequency which is showing in neighbor with good coverage and quality in Serving +
Neighbor window in Tems kit but UE is not able to do HO due to missing neighbor and got
call drop, In this case you have add that perticular frequency, after that call drop issue would
be resolved.
Qns 4: If Drive test engineer getting good RF RxLev(coverage) of all serving & neighbor cells
still Call drop Happened, What may be the issue?
Ans : If there is good Coverage means a good RxLev of all serving and neighbor cells so in this
case he need to check:
1) Many cells appear at good levels but any one of them is dominant or not?
2) If there is no dominant Cell, in this case call drop can occur due to ping pong Handover in
small time duration MS performing many quickly handovers among two or more cells.
3) In the Ping Pong situation, signalling can be increased or the load can be increased due to
that UE cannot handle the situation and call drop may occur.
4) You have to make a cell dominant by Physical Changes or By power Parameter setting.
Qns 5: If Drive Test engineer is facing Call blocking issue and Poor RxQual issue near site in
good RxLev condition what may be the issue?
Ans : DT Engineer needs to get checked ICM at site from Official Team, there may be high
ICM in bands.
2G Interview Preparation :
Become a Drive Test Expert or Expert in a Coordination Interview Questions:
Qns 6: How Drive test engineers can identify about cross sector?
Ans : At Drive test time he needs to keep an eye on these two important windows
"GSM serving + Neighbouring" will show BCCH's Rx-Levels and "GSM Hopping
Channels" window will indicate the serving cells TCH's Rx-Levels received by
MS(Mobile station) in downlink so check BCCH & TCH Frequency carefully.
-> DT Engineer will find BCCH & TCH of 1st Sector towards 2nd Sector main lobe with
good RxLev, While 1st sector BCCH RxLev is bad.
-> When he will be in 2nd sector's main lobe, he will get BCCH & TCH of 1st sector
with good RxLev, While Coverage RxLev of 2nd sector will be Bad.
-> So cross sector will be confirm between 1st and 2nd or any other sectors..
#RACH:
-> Random Access Channel (RACH) is used by the MS on the “uplink” to
request for allocation of an SDCCH.
-> This request from the MS on the uplink could either be as a page
response (MS being paged by the BSS in response to an incoming call) or
due to user trying to access the network to establish a call.
hashtag#Key hashtag#Parameters hashtag#Involved :
1) ACCMIN - ACCMIN controls the access threshold to the system, Often
the setting of ACCMIN is decided by non-technical reasons, A low setting
of ACCMIN can cause RA failures, TCH drops and bad quality and A high
setting of ACCMIN can stop users accessing the system resulting in lost
revenue.
3)TX - the randomness in the time interval between each of these access
request is defined by the parameter TX.
Actions /Resolution:
–> Check for BCCH / BSIC plan for RACH success rate affected cells .
–> Improve weak coverage areas by physical optimization.
–> Check for correct ACCMIN based on clutter and CRO based on
boundaries.
–> Do the complete BTS health check and replace the faulty / suspected
HW.
–> Set the appropriate MAXRET and TX values.
