To analyze the effectiveness of the CAM process in reducing machining time and
improving the precision of the final part.
Software utilized:
SolidWorks is an engineering 3D CAD (Computer-Aided Design) application generally used to
create, model, and simulate parts and assemblies. It integrate well with CAM (Computer-Aided
Manufacturing) systems and technologies to close the cycle from design manufacturing.
Machining process:
First, the part was created using various tools. Next, in the SolidWorks CAM tab, the machine was
set to Mill Metric, and a coordinate system was established. Machinable features were then
extracted with the Extract Machinable Feature tool. Following this, the operation plan was
configured, and the toolpath was generated. Afterward, the toolpath was simulated, and the
machining code was saved to the computer.
