MPa tensile and 25 MPa compressive. Determine the factor of safety against failure based on five various theories. The elastic limit in simple tension is 220 MPa and Poission's ration 0.3.
Q 5(a) At a point in bracket, the stresses on two mutually
perpendicular planes are 40N/mm^2(tensile) and 20N/mm^2 (tensile) . the shear stress across these planes is 10N/mm^2. Find using Mohr stress circle ,the magnitude and direction of the resultant stress on plane making an angle of 30* with the plane of the first stress. Find also the normal and tangential stresses on this plane.
