1. Find the velocity and acceleration of a particle moving along the curve 𝑥 = 𝑒 −𝑡 , 𝑦 =
2 cos 3𝑡, 𝑧 = 2 sin 3𝑡at any time 𝑡. Also find their magnitudes at 𝑡 = 0.
2. A particle moves along the curve x = 2t 2 , y = t 2 − 4t , z = 3t − 5, where ‘t’ is the time.
Find the components of velocity and acceleration in the direction of the vector
  
i − 3 j + 2 k at t = 1.
3. A particle moves along the curve x = 1 − t 3 , y = 1 + t 2 and z = 2t − 5. .Determine its
velocity and acceleration. Find the components of velocity and acceleration at t = 1 in
  
the direction 2 i + j + 2 k .
4. Find the directional derivative of 𝜙 = 𝑥𝑧 + 𝑥 2 + 𝑦 2 at (1, −1,1)in the direction of
𝑖̂ − 2𝑗̂ + 𝑘̂ .
5. Prove that the surfaces 4𝑥 2 𝑦 + 𝑧 3 = 4 and 5𝑥 2 − 2𝑦𝑧 = 9𝑥 intersect orthogonally at
the point (1, −1,2).
6. Find the constants 𝑎 and 𝑏 such that the vector 𝑣⃗ = (𝑎 sin 𝑦 + 𝑧)𝑖̂ + (𝑥 cos 𝑦 −
𝑏𝑧)𝑗̂ + (𝑥 − 𝑦)𝑘̂ is irrotational.
