DIFFERENT KINDS OF SHOPS, GOODS
o Buying and selling goods has been a regular human activity for as long as people
have lived together
o When we need some things, we go to the nearest shop
o There are several departments in the supermarket – department with baked goods
like bread, rolls or cakes, fruit and vegetable counter, where we can choose
products grown in our climate as well as tropical fruit, department with soft drinks
such as lemonade, juices and mineral waters, adults can also choose beer, wine,
champagne and so one

o People also do the window shopping
o It has a lot of advantages – you don’t need money, you can see a lot of interesting
things without entering the shop and you also get the view of new trends
o It is a good entertainment when you don’t have money or when you have nothing
to do
o You just go around some shops and you stop and stare to windows and dream
about what you would like to buy
o You can also sell thing you need no more, such as clothes, laptops, books or bikes
o There are web sites like aukro. You usually sell everything and you don’t have to
spend money for advertising in newspapers.
o But some people still haven’t tried this kind of shopping because they are afraid of
it
o The truth is it has its disadvantages too
o The biggest disadvantage is that sometimes you have to pay in advance by your
credit card
o It is also complicated when things stop working and you want to ask for refund
TYPES OF SHOPS:
o At the greengrocer’s there is usually a wide selection of fruit and vegetables for
example apples, oranges, garlic, cucumbers and things like these

SHOPPING CENTRES:
o In the suburbs of the cities there are shopping centres now - it is a complex of
many hypermarkets (in Prague or Brno there are hypermarkets TESCO, IKEA,
Computer Land, Olympia, HOBI) and some other smaller shops like Mc Donald´s,
Jewellery, cafés, clothes ‘shops etc.
o When I go shopping, I never forget to visit the local bookshop because I’m student
and I usually need some books for my study. I find out if any new books have been
published. I very often buy things for the school at a stationery shop such as
pencils, pens, writing paper and calendars.
