IItB Task1
IItB Task1
Introduction
As part of my responsibilities as a Campus Ambassador at IIT Bombay, I have undertaken
the task of gaining insights into the operations of student-led clubs within our college. This
report focuses on E-cell, an established Entrepreneurship Cell in our institution. The purpose
of this exercise is to understand the organizational structure, event management, member
engagement, and the challenges faced by the club. The insights gathered will not only
contribute to my understanding of how such organizations function but also offer valuable
perspectives that could be applied to other similar initiatives.
1) What is the main purpose/aim of establishing an Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell)?
The primary aim of establishing an Entrepreneurship Cell (E-cell) is to foster an
entrepreneurial spirit among students by providing them with the resources, guidance, and
platform to transform innovative ideas into viable business ventures. The E-cell seeks to
encourage creativity, innovation, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, empowering
students to take on entrepreneurial challenges and contribute to the startup ecosystem.
2) When was the E-cell established, and how did that idea initially evolve?
The E-cell was established in October 1998, driven by a growing recognition of the need for
nurturing entrepreneurial talents within the college. The idea initially evolved from a series of
discussions among faculty and students who were passionate about entrepreneurship and
innovation. These early conversations highlighted the potential of creating a dedicated
platform to support aspiring entrepreneurs, leading to the formation of the E-cell.
3) How is the E-cell structured, and what ideas and processes were for the actual
implementation of E-cell?
The E-cell is structured to include various teams and committees, each focusing on specific
aspects of entrepreneurship development such as idea incubation, mentorship, and event
management. The implementation process involved brainstorming sessions to identify key
objectives, followed by the development of a roadmap for achieving them. Key initiatives
included setting up partnerships with industry experts, organizing workshops, and providing
mentorship opportunities.
4) In what ways can this cell benefit college students, and how can students
collaborate or become part of it?
The E-cell offers numerous benefits to college students, including access to mentorship,
networking opportunities, and hands-on experience in entrepreneurship. Students can

joining as members to work on specific projects. The cell provides a platform for students to
gain practical skills, refine their business ideas, and connect with like-minded peers.
5) What is the process for taking up a leadership role in the E-cell?
Taking up a leadership role in the E-cell typically involves a selection process that assesses
a student’s commitment, vision, and leadership potential. Interested students are usually
required to submit an application, followed by an interview or presentation of their ideas for
the cell. The process is designed to ensure that leaders have a strong understanding of
entrepreneurship and are capable of driving the cell’s initiatives forward.
6) What roles and responsibilities do members typically have, and how do they
collaborate together?
Members of the E-cell are assigned various roles, such as project managers, event
coordinators, and marketing leads. Each role comes with specific responsibilities, ranging
