32 - 50 40
Above 50 50
Submittals
The bidder/ Supplier shall submit following mandatory documents with their proposals;
1. Manufacturer's specifications and catalogues and samples.
2. Previous installations references.
3. Company profile including actual period of into the relevant business.
Aluminum Cladding
This section outlines the specifications for aluminum claddings for insulated chilled water pipes
at chiller plant room and outdoor installations.
Reference Standards
Aluminum claddings shall comply with relevant industry standards such as ASTM B209/B209M
for Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Sheet and Plate.
Thickness
The thickness of aluminum cladding shall be suitable for the intended application, taking into
consideration factors such as insulation thickness, mechanical protection requirements, and
environmental conditions.
Surface Finish
Aluminum claddings shall have a smooth and corrosion-resistant surface finish suitable for
outdoor exposure and chiller plant room environments.
Attachment Method
Aluminum claddings shall be securely attached to the insulated pipes using suitable mechanical
fasteners such as stainless steel bands, clips, or screws.
All points of supports, both insulation and outer covering shall be continuous and shall not be
punctured or fouled by the supports.
Where insulated pipes pass through walls, partitions floors etc., sheet steel sleeves shall be
installed such that the insulation is continuous through the wall. If passing a fire partition, the
filling shall be fire-proof.
Insulation shall be applied only after the pipes and plant have been tested as specified. Where
more than one layer of insulation is applied, the joints shall be staggered.
Insulation shall be secured in position by means of non-ferrous bands and insulation shall be
covered with a vapour barrier which may be of PVC or Neoprene sheets, tapes or resins, or wet
applied vapour barriers of the cut-back bitumen type, bitumen emulsion with or without
elastomer latex, vinyl emulsion and solvent based polymers.
Pre-formed slab materials shall be secured to chilled water containers and flat surfaces. Valves,
pumps, flanges, and other fittings shall be insulated with oversize chapters, if necessary in
conjunction with slabs of the same material.
Space around the valves and fittings shall be filled with fibrous material pieces of shaped
insulation or other infill. Covers which are to be removable shall not adhere to the main
insulation but shall be separately secured. Two vapour barriers shall be provided, one to totally
enclose the main insulation and the other to cover the removable insulation.
All exposed pipe works in roof and chiller plant room shall be vapour sealed and then covered
with aluminum cladding thickness not less than 0.5mm secured by joints or other fixings of such
type as to ensure that the vapor barriers is not punctured.
All valves, pumps and fittings shall also be clad with removable aluminum boxes.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
The insulation material and vapor barriers shall be non-combustible when tested in accordance
with BS 476 Part 4 or as required by NFPA 90A.
The insulation material shall be paste to duct using adhesive approved by the manufacturer of the
insulation material.
Adhesives shall be compatible with insulation and in their dry state be nonflammable.
Insulation adhesives shall be supplied by the same manufacturer as approved for the insulation
and shall be according to the approved manufacturer's recommendations for the site conditions.
Under Floor, wall & roof slab shall be insulated by 9 mm thick Aluminum foil facing
Elastomeric Nitrile Rubber of density 45kg/m3 ~ 55kg/m
3 and k value 0.034 W/m. K at 0 0 C mean temperature. Floor insulation shall be provided Sever
room & UPS room area
along with adhesives etc.
Determine the size of the insulation material sheet required for insulation. Cut the material to the
measured size with sharp knife and straight edge. Ensure that the cuts are as accurate as possible
with smooth edges to ensure full contact with mating sheets when bonded together. Do not
stretch sheets and always apply smooth skin surface facing out. The surface to be insulated
should be thoroughly clean, dry, oil free and unheated to ensure proper adhesion. The joints
should be covered with the aluminums tape of approved make.
Aluminum Cladding
All exposed pipe works in roof and chiller plant room shall be vapour sealed and then covered
with aluminum cladding thickness not less than 0.5mm secured by joints or other fixings of such
type as to ensure that the vapor barriers is not punctured.
