will need and tasks you will need to do before working on this episode.
Target Your Intended Learning
Outcomes
At the end of this Learning Episode, I must be able to:

● establish my classroom routines and procedures before, during and

after classes in a face-to-face or in remote learning.
● explain the classroom routines (what to do, how to do it, when to do it,
and why those need to be done).
● reflect on the basic questions when building my classroom routines and
procedures in the classroom and in remote learning.
● list down some possible topics for action research on classroom
routines and procedures.
● use professional reflections and learning to improve practice.

Clarify Your Task

Establishing My Own Classroom Routines and Procedures
(Face-to-Face or Remote Learning)

Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate

teaching and learning. Routines don’t just make the life of the teacher easier.
They save valuable classroom time. Efficient routines make it easier for
students to learn and achieve more.
Establishing routines early in the school year enables you to run your
daily activities run smoothly; ensures that you manage time effectively; helps
you maintain order in the classroom; makes you more focused in teaching
because you spend less time in giving directions/instructions; and enables
you to explain to the learners what are expected of them.
Classroom routines set the foundation for a meaningful school year
with teachers and students whether in the classroom or remotely. To teach
classroom routines remotely, it is best to record videos and to post these in
the learning management system so students may watch them over and over
again for better retention and for families to view them so they can assist their
children when needed.
Students can take an active role in establishing classroom routines.
They can brainstorm on ideas which they will most likely do and follow.
Routines are important especially when done in remote learning so that there
will be less distractions both for synchronous and asynchronous participation.

Participate and Assist
To ensure that I can carry out perform my task efficiently and effectively in
participating and assisting my cooperating teacher in establishing routines and
procedures in the classroom or in remote learning, I must be guided by the following
questions:
1. How will I gain student attention in the classroom /remote learning?
2. What are the routines and procedures that I need to establish before, during
and after my classes whether on a face-to-face or remote learning?
3. What verbal and non-verbal communication will I use to signal that students
need help/attention in the classroom / remote learning?
4. How must students get/secure the needed work materials and books and
others in the classroom / remote learning?
5. How will students transition to group work and other cooperative activities in
the classroom / remote learning?
6. What procedures must be followed by students who need to attend to personal
necessities in the classroom/online classes?
7. What rules must be set for students who finish task early/ and for those who
cannot complete work on time?
8. What procedures must be observed for tardiness / early dismissals?
9. What procedures must be done when submitting homework/ performance
tasks in the classroom / remote learning?
10. What procedures must be employed in movements into and out of the
classroom/remote learning?

Having these guide questions in mind, consult your Resource Teacher on the
possible assistance or participation that you can do to help her/him in doing the
classroom routines. Complete the matrix for the routines that you can employ
before, during and after classes in the classroom/remote learning to ensure
order and discipline in your classes. List down the problems which you have
encountered while implementing these routines.

Notice
After doing your classroom routines and formulating your procedures, state
what you noticed by answering the following questions:
● How did you feel after employing your classroom routines and establishing
your procedures in the classroom / remote learning?

After employing my classroom routines and establishing procedures in both the

classroom and remote learning environments, I felt a sense of relief and
accomplishment. Having clear routines helped create a structured and predictable
atmosphere, which made students feel more secure and focused. I noticed
improvement in their engagement and participation, as students understood what
was expected of them. Additionally, it was rewarding to see how well the procedures
facilitated smoother transitions in the classroom, both in person and online. I also felt
more confident in class, knowing that these routines supported a positive learning
environment.

● How did your students respond to your classroom routines and procedures?

Many students quickly adapted to the expectations, and I noticed

increased participation and engagement in activities.

● What was the feedback of your Resource Teacher on your classroom routines
and procedures?

My Resource Teacher provided positive feedback on my classroom

routines and procedures. He noted that the structure helped create a
calm and organized environment, which was beneficial for all students.
He appreciated how clear expectations made it easier for students to
engage and participate. He also suggested a few minor adjustments to
enhance inclusivity for students with diverse needs, which I found very
helpful.

● Was there a change in the classroom environment / teaching-learning

process after you have implemented your classroom routines and
procedures?

Yes, there was a clear change in the classroom after I put my routines
and procedures in place. The structure helped students feel more
secure and focused, transitions between activities became smoother.
Students also became more responsible for their own learning, which
made them feel more in control.

Analyze
What factors/ conditions prompted you to establish those classroom routines
and procedures?
There are several factors that prompted me to establish those classroom
routines. First is that I’ve noticed that the learners are more focused in a
structured and efficient learning environment. Another is that I've noticed the
importance of setting clear expectations in the classroom to promote
engagement and to minimize disruptions. Lastly, I wanted to create an
inclusive atmosphere where all students could feel comfortable and participate
fully.
Was there a marked improvement in classroom management after employing
your classroom routines? Yes, I’ve noticed several improvements in the
classroom after employing those routines. students became more focused in
class and were more engaged. It also lessened the distractions that allow for
smoother transitions in the class. The routines also help them establish a
sense of responsibility as they already understand what was expected of them.
Did the teaching-learning process improve? Justify your answer.
Yes, the teaching-learning process definitely improved. With the
provided routines, I noticed that students became more focused in class. They
seemed more comfortable asking questions and participating in discussions.
and are able to adapt to the routines which minimizes off-task behavior.

Reflect
What insights have you gained while doing this learning episode?
The insight I have gained from this learning episode is the importance of
having clear expectations and routines because learners seemed to be
more disciplined if routines were implemented. It also prepares them for
their educational journey. Implementing routines and setting clear
expectations not only minimizes their confusion but also cultivates a
positive classroom culture. This allows the learners to develop
essential skills such as time management and self-discipline and these
skills are vital in both academic and real-world situations.

Writing Action Research Prompts

OBSERVE.1. The problems / challenges I encountered in establishing my
classroom routines.
When first establishing routines in the beginning, I found it challenging to gain
students' attentiveness and engagement during transitions between activities.
Students were often talking over instructions and getting out of their seats.
REFLECT 2. I hope to achieve addressing these problems and challenges by
giving positive reinforcement and discipline to help students focus and stay
on task when discussing or when haing activities. Well-structured routines are
important for an organized classroom which maximizes learning.
PLAN 3. Some strategies/ways which I can employ to improve my classroom
routines are
first is to meet or determine the learning styles of my students and try several
methods or strategies like call-and-response signals, or any games to gain
the students attention, assigning roles to students during classes, and
rewarding quiet and orderly behavior with praise or reward points.
ACT Based on my answers in #’s 1-3, the possible title of my action research
on this episode is
"Developing Effective Classroom Transition Routines Through
Reinforcement."

To further enrich my knowledge on establishing classroom routines and

procedures, whether in the classroom or in remote learning, these are some
of the online resources which will help me in these activities (include books,
websites, you tube videos and the like and share these to your peers.)

Work on my Artifacts
Take some snapshots of your routines in the classroom or in remote
learning (put inside the box) and tell something about them below. You may
also write down the procedures you have formulated and explain the reasons
for these.

Before class starts, give students time to settle down. Let them know
when it's time to focus. Begin with a prayer and greetings. Explain the
class rules clearly.

During the class, take attendance and have a spelling quiz. Tell students
what they will learn. Show your materials and start the lesson. Let
students practice and give feedback. Have an activity where students
share their thoughts.

After class, review the key points. Give homework. Ask if students have
questions and give feedback. Give a few minutes for students to tidy up.
Say goodbye with closing greetings.
