Assignment – How much are the batteries?

Hello everybody!

Now it's time for you to do the task for this week. Read the instructions below. Remember
that if you need to review a topic, you can always check the course material as many times
as you need. Keep in mind that you have to present this task during week 12.

1. Outcome

In this activity, students write short texts asking and giving information about products from
a shop using the grammar and vocabulary learned in Weeks 10 to 12.

2. Description

• Step 1: Collaborative work (get into pairs or groups of 3).


• Step 2: Check this week’s study material and your sessions’ notes.
o Situation: Students write a whatsapp conversation where they ask for and
give information about some products from a shop.
Choose two shops to ask for products from:
 Clothes store
 Electronics store
 Hardware store
 Grocery store
 Shoe store
 Newsstand
Then, choose your roles:
 Student A is the sales assistant: He/she gives information about the
products: color, size, price, etc.
 Students B and C are the customers: He/she asks questions about the
products: color, size, price, etc.

Example:

A: Can I help you?

B: How much are (the shoes)?

A: They are $50

B: Do you have these shoes in size (36)?

o Content:
 Vocabulary and expressions from Unit 3 (Weeks 10 -12)
 Prices
 Adjectives to describe products  Present simple ( 3rd person)
 How much is…?/How much are…?
 Articles a/an/the
• Step 3: Write the text together with your classmate(s).
• Step 4: Review the content, grammar, and spelling of your text together. Remember
to write it in WhatsApp format. Take a sreenshot and present it on a single Word
sheet. You can also use a website like Fake Whatsapp Chat Generator to create your
chat and paste it into a Word or PDF document.
• Step 5: Once you check your text, attach a cover to your writing and upload it to the
Canvas platform. Write your name and last name on the cover. Include your photo.
Example of the cover:

• Font: Arial
• Font size: 11
• Text lenght: 40 - 50 words
• Cover: your names and last names must be there, include your photos.
• Deadline: Sunday of Week 12

evaluación, anulará el resultado de la evaluación.

Se considera plagio a la copia de información parcial o total de fuentes de información o de páginas de


internet, así como a la copia del trabajo de otro grupo, estudiante, docente, o consulta a persona externa a la
universidad.

En los casos a que se refiere el párrafo anterior, si se comprueba la falta, el estudiante obtiene la calificación de
“cero anulado” (0A) como nota final del curso, sin perjuicio de recibir la sanción disciplinaria correspondiente.
