PLANETS
• There are eight planets in our solar system. Planets are further divided
into two types:

• Terrestrial planets: Four closest to the sun planets. They have solid
planetary systems, no rings, and a few or no moons.

• Gaseous planets: They have many moons and mainly consist of gases
and ice. They are giant planets.
MERCURY
• Smallest planet.
• No moons.
• Very hot surface and low gravity
• It has no water or air.

VENUS
• It is named after the Roman goddess of
love and beauty.
• it is the second planet.
• Has no moons.
• Has more volcanoes than any other planet.
• hottest planet.
• The atmosphere is composed of carbon
dioxide.
EARTH
• Earth is the third planet.
• Has one moon.
• It is the only planet that has liquid
water on its surface
• It is the only planet in the solar
system that has life.

MARS
• It is also known as the “Red Planet”
• Mars is the fourth planet.
• It is the second smallest planet.
• Has two moons.
• It has seasons like Earth too.
JUPITER
• Jupiter is the fifth planet.
• It is the largest planet.
• Has 63 moons.
• It is the stormiest planet.
• It is made of hydrogen, helium, methane
and ammonia.

SATURN
• It is the sixth planet.
• It is the second largest planet.
• Has62 moons!
• The rings are made up of millions of ice
crystals.
• It is a great ball of hydrogen and helium.
• Saturn is not a peaceful planet because of
wind storm.
URANUS
• It is the seventh planet
• Has 27 moons
• It rolls like a barrel rather than spinning
like Earth
• Uranus is the coldest planet.
• Uranus’s atmosphere is mostly
hydrogen but it also contains large
amounts of a gas called methane.

• It is the eighth planet.

NEPTUNE
• It is the farthest planet from the Sun in the Solar
System
• Has 13 moons.
• Neptune is a large, water planet with a blue
hydrogen-methane atmosphere and faint rings.
• Neptune suffers the most violent weather.
• It is the windiest planet in the Solar System.
MOON
• Our Moon is much smaller than Earth.
• The Moon completes a full orbit for 28 days.
• The Moon is Earth’s only natural satellite.
• Our Moon looks like a desert with mountains and valleys.
• There is no suitable atmosphere for breathing
• Recently scientists discovered water on the bottom of the
Moon
• It travels around the Earth in a shaped orbit
