Linear System of Equations
1. Solve the system of equations:
x − y + 2z = 3
x + 2y + 3z = 5
3x − 4y − 5z = −13
.

2. Solve the system of equations:

x + 2y − z = 1
3x − 2y + 2z = 2
7x − 2y + 3z = 5
.

3. Solve the system of equations:

3x + 2z + 2w = 0
−x + 7y + 4z + 9w = 0
7x − 7y − 5w = 0
.

4. Test the consistency of the system, x + 2y + z = 5, 3x − y + z = 6, x + y + 4z = 7 and

if consistent, then find the solution.

5. Test the consistency of the system, 2x + 3y − 4z = −2, x − y + 3z = 4, 3x + 2y − z = −5

and if consistent, then find the solution.

 

6. Reduce matrix A = 2 0 4
 1  to row echelon form and find its rank. [GTU
4 8 9 −1
W-18]

7. Solve system of linear equations by Gauss Elimination method, if solution exists

x + y + 2z = 9
2x + 4y − 3z = 1
3x + 6y − 5z = 0. [GTU W-18]

 

8. Define the rank of a matrix and find the rank of the matrix A =  4 5 −3  [GTU

S-19]
.

9. Using Gauss Elimination method solve the following system:
−x + 3y + 4z = 30
3x + 2y − z = 9
2x − y + 2z = 10 [GTU W-19]
.

10. For what values of λ and µ system 2x + 3y + 5z = 9

7x + 3y − 2z = 8
2x + 3y + λz = µ
has no solution, unique solution and infinitely many solutions.
