Lesson 1& 2

New vocabulary:
Clever (adj.) Someone is good at learning and understand things.
Friendly (adj.) Someone likes being with other people and is nice to them.
Funny (adj.) Someone OR something that is funny makes you laugh.
Lazy (adj.) Someone doesn’t work or do any activities that needs effort.
Boring (adj.) Someone OR something boring makes you feel not interesting.
Careful (adj.) Someone who thinks about what he is doing to avoid mistakes.
Honest (adj.) Someone who doesn’t tell lies OR cheat people and obeys the
law.
Interesting (adj.) Someone OR something that you want to know more about.
Kind (adj.) Behaving in a way that shows you care about people.
Time table (n.) A list of times of lessons, buses, trains, courses…..etc.
Wheelchair (n.) A chair with large wheels that someone who can’t walk uses
for walking around.
Volunteer (n.) Someone who doesn’t take any money for the work that he
does.
Cycling (n.) The act or sport of riding or traveling by bicycle.
Hobby (n.) Something that you enjoy doing.
Accident (n.) Likely to hurt yourself or break something as a result of an
accident.
Mysteries (n.): something not understood or beyond understanding.
Buddy (n.): a close friend.

*Grammar*
“The present simple tense”
• Usage:
To talk about: facts – habits – things we do regularly.
• Form:
I, You, We, They + v(inf) He, She, It + v (s,es,ies)
Ex: - I always help my parents. - She watches TV every night.

• Negative:
I, You, We, They + don’t + v(inf)
He, She, It + doesn’t + v(inf)
Ex: - My friends don’t go to the club. - Salma doesn’t like French.

• Yes/No question
Do/Does + sub. + v(inf) …?
Ex: - Do you go to the club? -Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.
•Wh. Question:
W.h word + do/does + sub. + v(inf) …?
Ex: - When do you wake up? -I always wake up at 7 o’clock.
• Key words:
- Always – usually – often – never – sometimes – every(day, week, year, …)
Ex: - I always study hard. -I go to the club every Thursday.
The past simple tense*
• Usage:
To talk about actions happened and finished in the past.
• Form:
Sub. + second form of the verb.
1- Regular verbs:
Sub. + v(d,ed,ied)
Ex: - I played football last night. - She watched a match yesterday.
2- Irregular verbs:
Ex: - I went to the park last Friday. - I ate pizza last night.

• Negative:
Sub. + didn’t + v(inf)
Ex: - My brothers didn’t go to the club last week. - He didn’t play tennis
yesterday.

• Yes/ No question:
Did + sub. + v(inf) …?
Ex: - Did you watch the match yesterday?
Yes, I did. / No, I didn’t.
• W.h question:
W.h word + did + sub. + v(inf) …?
Ex: - Where did you go last night?
I went to the theater last night.
• Key words:
- Yesterday -last – ago – once – in the past – when I was young/little

Ex: - I ate pizza yesterday. -The train left two hours ago.
Lesson 3
-Article (n.) A piece of writing about an interesting topic (in a newspaper or on a
website).
-Play aboard game (v.) To play a game that uses a board.
-Qualities (n.) Things that describe how a person is.
-Survey (n.) A set of questions that you ask a large number of people to
find out about something.
-Support : to agree with and give encouragement to someone or something
because you want him, her, or it to succeed.
- Advice (n.): a suggestion about what someone should do.
- Teenager (n.): people aged between 13-19
- Tough (adj.): difficult to deal with.

-Go camping: the act of staying and sleeping in an outside area, usually in a
tent.
- Surf the internet: the activity of exploring various websites.

- Get home: return home.

- Make good friends: to have friends who are loyal and accept you for who you
are during good and bad times.
