CROCHET

CHUBBY COW
PATTERN
DETAILS
Materials needed:
1.Yarn – Leami Chenille Soft Fine (100% Polyester) 160m (174 yards)/100g
· White color (number 303)– approximately 80g
· Black color (number 312)– approximately 30g
· Brown-red color (number 318) – approximately 15g
· Light brown color (number 317) – approximately 10g
2. Hook size according to the yarn you use – I used 3.5 mm hook (D/4)
3. Scissors
4. Fiberfill stuffing
5. Stitch marker
6. Sewing needle Size:
7. Black embroidery thread. Out of mentioned materials
– 16 cm

This is the list of materials that I used to create my toy.
You can use any yarn type/size, but it may affect the
toy's final look.
Abbreviation:
MR – magic ring
Ch – chain stitch
Sc – single crochet stitch
Sl – slip stitch
Inc – increase
Triple inc – triple increase ( 3 sc in 1 st)
·Do not join rounds, work in
Dec – decrease a continuous spiral
Dc – double crochet ·Use a stitch marker to
Hdc – half double crochet
mark the beginning of the

Number in ( ) at the end of the row indicates
total number of stitches in that row.
BODY
Start with the white yarn.
Cast on ch 8, from the second ch from the hook crochet
1. 6 sc, triple inc in last ch, turn and crochet along the
other side - 5 sc, inc (16 st)
Continue to crochet in a spiral.

Stuff the body.
27. dec, 5 sc, dec*3, 5 sc, dec*2 (16 st)

Fasten off, leaving a yarn tail. Using a yarn needle, sew


the opening. Weave in the yarn end.

Your last row is the front side of your cow.


MUZZLE
Start with the brown-red yarn.
Cast on ch 8, from the second ch from the
hook crochet
1. 6 sc, triple inc in last ch, turn and crochet
along the other side - 5 sc, inc (16 st)
Continue to crochet in a spiral.
2. inc, 5 sc, inc*3, 5 sc, inc*2 (22 st)
3. 1 sc, inc, 5 sc, (1 sc, inc)*3, 5 sc, (1 sc, inc)*2
(28 st)
4. 28 sc

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Leave a long tail for


sewing.
EARS
Start with the white yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR
2. (1 sc, inc)*3 (9 st)
3. 9 sc
4. 9 sc
5. 9 sc
6. (1 sc, dec)*3 (6 st)

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Leave a long tail for


sewing.
Make the second one in the same way, but
black.
LEGS
Start with the white yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR
2. inc*6 (12 st)
3. 12 sc
4. 12 sc

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Leave a long tail for


sewing.
Make anothe 3 legs in the same way.

SPOTS 1
Start with the black yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Leave a long tail for


sewing.
SPOTS 2
Start with the black yarn:

1. 6 sc in MR
2. inc*6 (12 st)
3. (3 hdc in 1 st, sl st in the next st)*6

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Leave a long tail


for sewing.
Make the second spot in the same way.

HORNS
Start with the light brown yarn:

1. 5 sc in MR
2. 4 sc, inc (6 st)
3. 6 sc

Fasten off, cut the yarn. Leave a long tail


for sewing.
ASSEMBLY
Use some pins to fix the muzzle onto the
body and sew it to the body.
The muzzle should be moved slightly down,
but still cover your sewed last row of the
body.
When you have a small hole left, stuff the
area between the head and the muzzle with
fiberfill, than continue sewing.

Embroider the eyes and the nose with a black


thread.

Use some pins to fix the big sports onto the


body in the position you like most and sew it
to the body.

Use some pins to fix the ears and the horns


onto the body in the position you like most
and sew it to the body.
ASSEMBLY
Use some pins to fix the legs onto the
body in the position you like most and
sew it to the body. I sew the back legs
between rows 6 and 9, front legs
between rows 17 and 20.
When you have a small hole left, stuff
the area between the body and the leg
with fiberfill, than continue sewing.

Use some pins to fix the small spot onto


the body in the position you like most
and sew it to the body.
