IV. Define:

1. Incubation
The process in which birds sit on their eggs to keep them warm is called
incubation.

2. Blubber
A thick layer of fat found under the skin of some animals living in the polar
region which helps to keep their body warm and also serves as a source of
energy during winter.

V. Give reasons:
a) The Siberian cranes come to India every year.
Animals that live in very cold places leave their home in winter and travel to
warmer places to avoid the harsh cold and shortage of food. They travel
back at the end of the winter. Thus, the Siberian crane comes to India every
year to avoid escape severe cold.

b) Birds have hollow bones.


Hollow bones make bird’s body light weight and help them to fly. That is why
birds have hollow bones.
c) A tadpole does not resemble a frog.
Tadpole goes through a process called metamorphosis in which the young
one’s changes completely when they reach the adult stage. Thus, tadpole
doesn’t look like a frog.
