Tema: Classroom objects.

Rationale
This class is made up of 20 students in groups of four. Most of the students have problems
with writing and reading in the target language. The level of the students is false beginners
and their previous knowledge of the target language vary, they are visual learners and their
participation depends on their interest. They are easily bored and noisy, but quiet when their
attention is captured. Furthermore, they are supportive and helpful with their peers.
The didactic sequence aims to stimulate the students’ listening comprehension of the target
language through short statements, questions and commands given orally, and through
games.

OBJECTIVES
● Identify the new vocabulary related to the classroom by matching the words with their
meaning.
● Interpret instructions from the target language into their mother tongue.
● Practice listening comprehension through a game.

Warm up Activity “Hot Potato” (10’)


Materials:
○ Flashcards
○ Balloon
○ Speaker with music
● Students are arranged in a circle around the desks.
● The teachers explains that they are going to play “hot potato”:
○ Here’s a balloon, pass the balloon and when the music stops you will read a
card.
● Before starting the game, the teacher shows and explains each flashcard, for
example:
○ This is a “CHAIR”. Repeat, “chair”.
● The game starts and the students play at least five rounds, one per flashcard.

Practice (10’)
● The teacher places a chair and a desk with a pencil, a crayon and a notebook on it at
the front of the classroom.
● The teacher chooses one student at random, points to one of the objects and asks,
“What is this? This is a…”.

Production (20’)
● The teacher shows a poster with the activities from the workbook and chooses some
students at random to do them at the front.
○ Please, come here. Let’s match, what’s this?... Let’s trace the lines, this is a…
Now let’s paint, what’s this?
● The teacher asks the students to complete their workbook.
● The teacher writes the date and gives the next copy to the students who do not have
the workbook to stick it in their notebooks:
