Studying abroad: something many students dream of, Laura as well. But will she actually enjoy it? Five
months away from home, away from family and friends.
Where will I live? And will I be able to communicate with others?, she wonders. One of the most
unique things of studying abroad is getting to know a new culture, making new friends, discovering
new places. Studying abroad is fun and educational, but is also an investment for the future. You
create an international network and gain experience that looks good on your CV. Every student has the
same questions and uncertainties, but be bold and embark on an adventure. The world is at your feet.
Stop dreaming. Start your journey.

My name is Sonja, I’m 16 years old and I’m an international student from Germany.
So, before I came here I was, like, just open for something new, and the whole system, like, how it
works, the lifestyle is so different, and the people are very different, like, they’re way more welcoming
and friendly, and the nature here is so good.
So, when I compare my German school with my Canadian school it’s very different because I have the
feeling that the relationship between the teachers and the students are very different, and it’s more
like a… on the friendship base, I don’t know, and I would say that the people, when they go there, they
enjoy it and they feel safe.
My favourite class in high school is culinary arts. It’s where you, like, cook the meals for the cafeteria,
and it’s fun because you meet so many people, and I really like that because we don’t have anything
like that in my school at home. So, in the beginning of the semester I joined the volleyball club and it
was a great experience. I would really suggest to go in a sports club because all the schools offer
sports, and they are always good options, and you meet many people who have the same interests like
you have.
So, if we have any problems at school or in our life, we have many options to talk to people. So, there’s
an international education teacher, you can just talk to him, he’s always there if you have any
questions. And I would say, like, every teacher you can go and talk to, they would always take the time
to answer your questions and help you out. This is very good for the future, this is a good experience
to learn how the life works.
