understanding the working of the machines and engines so I had done Mechanical engineering
initially…during engineering my focus shifted on automation and I found automation and IoT
has good scope in the future so I had done my MTech in Industrial Automation and Robotics
from Manipal Institute of technology. I had got a internship in watchdog security and had
experience in BMS and Home automation. Its there where my customer handling skills and
Project handling skills started developing. Later I joined Lutron Electronics, Inc. as a Field
service Engineer and got trained in almost all vertical of products they offered and I used to
travel extensively across PAN India as a commissioning engineer and service specialist. I used to
represent Lutron to customers and End users, this made me develop my soft skills and team
management skills.
During Covid I was promoted as a Senior Field Service Engineer and my responsibility shifted
towards managing and scheduling the Field visits and Troubleshooting special issues and I was
in close involvement with the Technical support team for all escalations including data
capturing and Deployment of fix towards issue resolution. I was assigned a team of 6-8 people
whom I would train on troubleshooting and advance commissioning tips and tricks for
identifying the root cause of problems.
I was also in charge of Quality of the database and would prepare Quality check sheets and was
extensively involved in documentation of the same which would be very helpful for handover of
the jobsites. I have been part of some of the major Commercial projects for Lutron in the past
years as a Senior Field Service Engineer. Last year there was an opportunity in the TS team as a
Technical Application specialist and since I was eager to go on a technical role and explore new
domain I took this opportunity and shifted to TS.
Currently in my role, I resolve customer queries over calls, emails and remote session. I provide
Tier 2 support for all the Lutron system sold internationally ranging in residential, commercial
and hospitality segment. I provide cross technology support by providing technical support for
3rd party integration and assist the team during installation. I also facilitate escalation of issues
to our Application team and coordinate the weekly tracking and deployment of Open issue
resolution to field.
What motivates you to work for Schneider electric?
Schneider electric reputation is certainly a factor. Domain is a key factor. Lutron is only
into Lighting automation and had various products only related to lighting this is a very
niche field. However Schneider electric is into complete automation solutions with
products ranging from electric car charging stations, Access control, Home and building
automation, SCADA and HMI, Medium Voltage Distribution and Grid automation. Also
I have read many reviews on the companies culture that it encourages learning and
development while on the job and really rewards hardwork.
What does a typical day look like? What are the qualifications you are looking at an ideal
candidate?
The reason I am looking for a change is that I feel like now is the time to expand my horizon I
have worked in my current company for quiet a long time now and while I am grateful for all
the opportunities that were presented to me there, I want to go beyond my current role,
explore different avenues, and take up challenging roles and I believe that your company will be
perfect to push and grow myself as an individual.
