Mock Interview Questions

Review the Interview Tips that we reviewed in class. Answer the questions
below by typing your answers in complete sentences. Take your time and
make sure to explain your responses in the detail necessary for an
employer to make a decision about hiring you.

Interview Questions:

1. Tell me about yourself.

My name is Cole Miller, I am a student at Gila Ridge High School. I am in

‘A’ team and NHS because of my acedmic achievements. I have an interest
in Astronomy and Engineering. One of my hobbies is Origami, somthing
that has proven useful to astronomical research. Largely in the form of the
James Webb Telescope’s sunshade.I also have acquired the ability to
speak several languages with confidence, and I am only adding to my
repertoire by taking an introduction to Bulgarian and Belarusian. I am
interested in this position as it will allow me to apply my knowledge of the
heavens and mathematics to a position that will greatly benfit the discovery
and better understanding of the sky and space.

2. What would you say is your greatest talent or skill? How have you
developed and demonstrated that talent over time?

I’d say that my greatest skill is the ability to converse in multiple

languages, as it allows me to spread information over a wider audience. In
contrast, proficiency in only one language limits the reach of discovery. I
started learning languages in my early years of Middle School, Begining
with Latin. I later learned Slavic languages from family and friends.
Knowledge of Greek has allowed me to read excerpts from the Iliad and the
New Testaments. This application of modern (and dead) language has
opened my eyes to the similarities all languages share. Thus allowing me
to learn more, giving me the opportunity to spread more information.
3. Describe a time in your life when you had to overcome an educational or
physical barrier. What did you learn from this experience?

During my life I’ve faced many challenges, my most prominent was hearing
loss in my right ear and delayed response in my left ear. Other than the
limited medical options available to me, I learned to overcome this by
learning to read lips with relative accuracy. It was by that time I realised
that communication should not be taken for granted. And even if one door
of communication is closed, there are still many more to open.
Communication is the key to society as it allow use to share information
and other items that can better the world.

4. What is your most significant accomplishment and why?

A relatively recent accomplishment, I completed a mural on the Marine

Corps base dedicated to those who have passed. While I was given a
medal for this action, the true prize was a remembrance of those who have
passed. It is my most significant accomplishment as it spoke on a personal
level to countless people. Allowing them to feel that their loved ones are not
forgotten by their peers. It originally started as a drawing. Later, the CO
saw it and liked the idea enough that he asked that I, and another artist
paint it in a recess in a wall.

5. Do you have any questions for me?

Outside of the tasks listed in the job description, what other tasks might I
get the opportunity to do?

What would you say is the work environment like?
