• Set the S1 service switch on the D500 board in the generator cabinet to "ON" (1), the
"Service Mode" LED indicates the service mode.
• Then switch the generator OFF and back ON.
• On the control console display, a brief description of the meaning of the keys that are
used for menu control in the service mode appears:

1 Selection menu:
Here, various titles/possible selections are displayed. The next submenu on
which the cursor is located is selected using the "kV+" key.
2 Configuration menu:
In the configuration menu, current settings/configurations for the generator,
control console, etc. can be changed. To make a desired setting/configura-
tion, the cursor must be moved to the particular line. Then the exposure
switch must be pressed (it is sufficient to press it only to "prep"). Then the line
is given a checkmark ( ); for options that are excluded, the checkmark ( )
is removed. In addition, some configuration options can be available (what
are referred to as check boxes) that can be selected or deselected ( ).
3 Exposure menu:
The exposure menu appears after selecting a line in the menu in which an
adjustment or test must be performed. The name of the adjustment or test
appears and the corresponding parameters. The corresponding action is per-
formed by pressing the exposure switch.
4 Display menu:
This is purely a display menu. The desired values or parameters are dis-
played for the user. There is only one possibility to return to the higher-level
menu using the "kV-" key.
• For easier orientation, the menu tree is always displayed in the first line
(e.g. Conf. | Gen. | Grid).
Safety Measures 1
• Prior to taking any action in the generator, it must be switched off using the control
console off switch.

Fig. 1
WARNING When the generator is switched off, there is still voltage present
on the T3 transformer and on the switch-on circuit.
After switching off the generator, there is still approx. 600 V DC
voltage present for the inverter board D510 and also for the single
tank tube board D510! This is indicated by the LEDs on the D510
board (Fig.1).
The voltage dissipates within approx. 2 minutes to < 30 V; the
LEDs go off at approx. 30 V.
• To switch power off to all parts of the system (generator and connected equipment), set
the system switch to the OFF position.
• To prevent unintentional triggering of high voltage or of radiation, the IGNITION switch
on the D500 board should be set to OFF (no control of the inverter, thus no ignition
pulses and no high voltage).

Configuration 2
For configurations for which no standard values exist (for example, with the Iontomat
detector chamber), there is no default setting. However, these settings must be made if
this information is required to work with the generator (no later than when exposures are
triggered). If this information is not available, an error message is displayed.
Version 3
Version 4
The following listed points are options with the Polydoros IT S 30/55 and are subject to a
charge for the customer. The dongle configuration determines enabling of the features:
• Max. power 30 kW / 55 kW (A1 / B1)
• Automatic exposure control (IONTOMAT) (B2)
• Tomo (Planigraphy) (B3)
• Load calculator model, pause time calculator / tube load calculator(A4 / B4)
• KK interface (B5)
If a dongle is not plugged in, the generator operates in the minimum version:
- Power 30 kW (A1)
- No automatic exposure control (IONTOMAT) (A2)
- No tomo (A3)
- Pause time calculator (A4)
• No control over KK interface (A5)
After switching on power in the service mode and confirmation (with the kV+ key), an
explanation of the key meanings appears in the main menu (selection menu) on the dis-
play. The following possible choices can be made: Configuration [Configuration], Adjust-
ment Various tests and Information about different data.
When the "Configuration" line is selected, a selection of various components that must be
configured appears:
The line "Planigraphic equipment" appears only if the "tomo" option is enabled by the
dongle.
Generator 2
When the generator is selected, the following possible choices are available:
The lines "IONTOMAT" and "HV cable" appear only if the "IONTOMAT" option is config-
ured by the dongle or if a single-tank tube is not configured in the Configuration | Tube
menu. The line "Line resistance has no function with this version" appears.

Invert MF
The line "Invert MF" is a selection box (check box) and appears only if the 6 mm or 12 mm
chamber is selected. if ( ) is selected the measuring fields of the Iontomat chamber are
inverted.
* To be able to adapt the generator to the unit geometry, the relationship between
dominant selection and control can be inverted (left-middle-right / right-middle-left).

Control Console 2
The following points in the control console can be adjusted for the requirements or needs
of the operator. For further information, see the Operating Instructions:
A distinction is made between the WHO series, ½ or 1-exposure point series. The
selected series is valid for the kV and mAs setting. The density correction is always made
in ½ exposure point steps.
Workstations (Workstation) 2
Since the customer, e.g. can decide to use a Bucky wall stand, the workstations are
designed so that they can be configured (except for "tomo exposure", because this is a
dongle configuration):
The brightness of the display can be adapted according to the room conditions. It is possi-
ble to choose between 11 steps using the "mAs ±" keys:
This menu represents an exception to the selection menus. By using the "mAs ±" keys
along with the cursor movement at the same time, the brightness of the current cursor set-
ting can be adapted. However, the actual reselection is still made using the exposure
switch and saving the selection is made using the M key.
Date 2
The "Date" menu is used to set the time in the generator. The date and time are set sepa-
rately. The particular line is selected using the "mAs ±" key. To set the desired date, the
density keys must be used.
The Polydoros IT permits use of different X-ray tube units. However, these must be con-
figured in the submenu [Tube]. When the submenu is selected, the name of the current
tube unit appears in the display and the possibility of making a change of the X-ray tube
unit.
NOTICE If a change is made to the X-ray tube, absolutely observe the fol-
lowing:
1) Prior to changing the tube unit, the tube data must be read out
and noted (see below "Configuaration/Tube")
2) Only then may the tube unit be selected.
If an attempt is made to change the X-ray tube using the "kV+", a safety request appears
on the display:
After confirming this request, the X-ray tube can be selected appear:
8Optiphos 135/30/55/R
Select: Save:
If the "plani" option is enabled using a dongle, it must be determined which type of plani
device is to be used:
Config.|Planigr. equipment
8 á By KK-Interface
Internal plan. 60Hz
Select: Save:
"By KK-Interface" means that an external plani device is being operated using the KK
interface. In such situations, the default plani times must be selected at the unit and these
will appear on the console.
With internal planigraphy, no additional configuration is required. The plani data are then
preset for 50Hz systems at "8°/0.5s" and 30°/2s" and for 60Hz systems at "8°/0.3s" and
"30°/1.6s".
SW Update 2
In the "Information" menu, the general data for the generator and the operating data are
made available. A distinction is made between 4 areas:
Error Log 3
In the error log, the generator errors that have occurred are recorded. They are displayed
in the order in which they occurred with date and time.
• Select the delete mode using the M key, the error log can be reset when the M key is
pressed again.
In the "Generator data" menu, the different power data and the firmware version of the
generator are displayed:
In the "Tube data" menu, the different power data and the number of overload exposures
of the tube unit are displayed:
- Example:
Optiphos 135/30/55/R
Exps.: 147550 | 56
Overloads: 142 | 22
System Data 3
General data regarding the generator-tube unit assembly is displayed in the "System
data" menu. The system name, the total number of exposures and the number of tube unit
replacements is displayed:
- Example:
Polydoros S IT 55
Tube changes: 12
