ACTIVITY 1

Below are examples of responses to interview questions. Prepare questions for each
of the responses.

1) I obtained my Certificate in Civil Engineering in 2015 from Politeknik Ungku Omar. Before
completing my studies in Politeknik Ungku Omar, I passed my SPM examination in 2012 with
good grades in Mathematics, Science and Principles of Account.

2) My hobbies are collecting stamps and reading storybooks.

3) Some of the subjects that I learned during my studies at the polytechnic are Building Services,
Office Practice, Technical drawings and Building Measurement.

4) I have no working experience as a technician because I just graduated from Politeknik Port
Dickson in July this year. However after my SPM examination, I worked in Seri Jaya Mini
Market at my hometown, Ipoh for 3 months. I also gained valuable experience during my
industrial training session at Prai Electronics (M) Sdn. Bhd. for a period of six months.

5) I aimed to be promoted to the post of Senior Engineer in 10 years time. In order to achieve
that, I will enroll in part-time courses, which offer first-degree qualifications.

6) My main weaknesses would be my inability to communicate well in English. However I am

trying to improve my ability in it. In fact for the past two months, I have enrolled myself in
English for communication classes, after I finished my studies in Politeknik Port Dickson. This is
the first interview that I went to after I enrolled in that class, and I could see the improvement.

7) I was actively involved in co-curricular activities when I was studying. In fact, I was appointed
to the post of President of the Student Council in my last semester of my studies. I also
represented Polytechnic Shah Alam in the English Debate competition.

8) I chose my course because I was very interested in the field of engineering since my secondary
school studies. I chose to be in technical school instead of the ordinary schools because I know I
could learn a lot more things on engineering compared to ordinary schools. Electrical engineering
is the main target after my SPM because I know it can provide better career opportunities.
