ASSIGNMENT-9
CHAPTER- 9 (CIRCLES)

SECTION-A (MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS)

1 AB and CD are two equal chords of a circle with centre O. OP and OQ are
perpendiculars on chords AB and CD respectively. If ∠POQ = 150°, then ∠APQ is
(A)30° (B) 75° (C) 15° (D) 60°

2 In fig , if ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral in which opposite angles are 4x-64°, and
2x+40° then x is
(A) 45° (B) 30° (C) 34° (D) 40°
3 CD is the diameter of a circle with centre O and CD is perpendicular to chord AB.
If AB= 12 cm and CE = 3 cm, then radius of the circle is
(A)6 cm (B) 9 cm (C) 7.5 cm (D) 8 cm

4 The angle in semicircle is:

(A) 45° (B) 180° (C) 90° (D) 60°
5 Assertion : If two chords AB and CD of a circle are each at a distance 4 cm.
from the centre, then AB = CD.
Reason: Chords equidistant from the centre of a circle are equal in length.
SECTION-B (2 MARKS QUESTIONS)
6 A quadrilateral ABCD is inscribed in a circle so that AB is the diameter of the
circle. If ∠ADC= 115°, find ∠BAC.

7 In given figure, If ∠A = (2x+10)°, ∠B = (x + 20)°, ∠C = (y - 50)° and ∠D = (y-10)°, find

the value of x and y.

8 If chords AB and CD of a circle intersect at a point P. If ∠CPB = 120° and ∠ACP =
70°, then nd x .

9 In given figure if ∠OAB = 40°, then find ∠ACB .

SECTION – C (3 MARKS QUESTIONS)

10 In the given figure, if O is the centre of the circle. The angle by an arc BCD at the
centre is 140°. BC is produced to P. Find ∠DCP.

11 The lengths of two parallel chords of a circle 6 cm and 8 cm.If the smaller chord
is at distance 4 cm from the centre, what is the distance of the other chord from
the centre?
12 In the given figure, find the values of a, b, c and d. Given ∠BCD = 43° and ∠BAE =
62°.

13 In the given figure, AB is a diameter of the circle, CD is a chord equal to the

radius of the circle. AC and BD when extended intersect at a point E.
Prove that ∠AEB = 60°.

SECTION – D (5 MARKS QUESTIONS)

15 In given figure, O is the centre of the circle, ∠BCO = 30°. Find x and y.

16 In the given figure, O is the centre of a circle of radius r cm, OP and OQ are
perpendiculars to AB and CD respectively and PQ = 1 cm. If AB II CD, AB = 6cm
and CD = 8cm, determine radius.

SECTION – E ( CASE STUDY)

17 A farmer has a circular garden as shown in the picture. He has a different type of
tree ,plants and flower plants in his garden. In the garden, there are two mango
trees A and B at a distance of AB=10m.Similarly he has two Ashok trees at the
same distance of 10m as shown at C and D. AB subtends ∠AOB=120° at the
centre O, The perpendicular distance of AC from centre is 5m and the radius of
the circle is 13m.
(i) What is the value of ∠COD ?
(ii) What is the distance between mango tree A and Ashok tree C ?
(iii) What is the value of angle ∠OCD ?

18 During a practical activity in mathematics lab, students were using circular
Geo-board. The angle subtended by BC at the centre is (2a + 50°).
(i) What is the measure of ∠BAC?
(ii) If a = 50°, then find reflex ∠BOC.
(iv) The radius of the circle is 10 cm and a =5°, find ∠OBC.
