Tasks to be done:
1. Analyze and generate the report of parameters: Category, Subcategory and Profit.

2. Analyze the relationship between country, region and sales. Also apply various aggregate
functions on measures.

3. Use different different charts.


Step to perform experiment:

1. . Analyze and generate the report of parameters: Category, Subcategory and Profit.

Step 1: Load the Data into Tableau

• Open Tableau.
• Click on "Connect" and select the appropriate connection to your data (Excel, CSV, etc.).
• Once the data is loaded, go to the "Data Source" tab to check the imported dataset.

Step 2: Create a New Sheet

• In the bottom-left corner, click on the Sheet 1 tab and rename with our UIDs.

Step 3: Drag and Drop Fields for Analysis

• From the "Data" pane on the left, drag "Category" and "Sub-Category" to the Rows shelf.
• Drag "Profit" to the Columns shelf.

Step 4: Generate a Visual Representation

• Tableau will automatically create a bar chart showing profit by category and sub-category.
• We can change the chart type by clicking on the "Show Me" button on the right and selecting
different chart types like a bar chart or a tree map for a different view.

2. Analyze the relationship between country, region and sales. Also apply various aggregate
functions on measures.

Step 1: Create a New Sheet

• Click on "New Worksheet" at the bottom to start a fresh analysis.

Step 2: Drag Fields for Relationship Analysis

• Drag "Country" and "Region" to the Rows shelf.


• Drag "Sales" to the Columns shelf.
Step 3: Apply Aggregate Functions

• By default, Tableau aggregates Sales (SUM).

• To change the aggregate function, click on the SUM(Sales) dropdown, then select "Measure" and
choose from options like SUM, AVG, COUNT, MIN, or MAX.

Step 4: Visualize the Data

• Tableau will create a bar chart by default, but you can change it by going to "Show Me" and
choosing other chart types like maps.

• Learned how to create and interpret visualizations like bar charts, tree maps, and pie charts using Tableau for
data analysis.
• Gained insights into applying aggregate functions (SUM, AVG, MIN, MAX) to summarize data such as sales
by country or region.
• Understood how to use filters and customization options to refine and explore specific data segments, such as
categories or regions.
