2. Back-up
Before installation of the software switcher, please make backup files to prevent data loss due to
power downs or any other possible malfunctions during the installation. You can do this by
following the next steps.
On the “Home” screen choose the “Option” button on the bottom right side of the screen.
Under the options menu choose “export” data files option in the top middle part of the screen.
On the pop-up window choose location, type the name for the backup file and select “Save”
option.
Install the provided software by a right click on the setup file “UNI Full installation with
Switch.exe” and choose “run as administrator” option from a pop-up menu.
On the installation window choose the “Next” option a few times, also on the driver install and
confirm on “Finish”.
After initial installation of UNI software, the software switcher installation will automatically start.
Here as well proceed by clicking a few times on the “Next” then on Finish.
After installation is complete, two new shortcuts will appear on the desktop - “UNI Switch” and
“UNI_COM”
In order for the software to work properly, both of these shortcuts should be granted
administrator privileges by a right click on the shortcut and selecting “Properties” from the
pop-up menu and a new pop-up menu will appear. Here choose the “Compatibility tab”, check
“Run as administrator” checkbox and confirm with “OK” on lower part of the pop-up menu
To run the desired software, first you need to choose which UNI software version you want to
run. You will perform this by selecting the software switcher by double click on the icon as
shown in Figure 1 and for choosing the appropriate UNI version as shown in Figure 2.
Figure 1. Figure 2.
By selecting the options “Switch to UNI V1” and “Switch to UNI V2.0.2.4”, the software switches
between these 2 versions.
By selecting the button “Switch to UNI V1” you are choosing UNI software version V1.0
By selecting the button “Switch to UNI V2.0.2.4” you are choosing UNI software version
V2.0.2.4.
Version 1.0
Version 2.0.2.4
After the adequate version of the software is chosen on the software switcher application, UNI
software can be initiated by double click the “UNI_COM” desktop shortcut.
Starting from June 1st 2024 all UNI tests from the NeoMedica production will consist of
monotest cartridges labeled using the new barcode system that will function on the new
software V2.0.2.4 only. All boxes manufactured starting from June 1st 2024 will contain an
information statement on test and software compatibility printed on a yellow paper. For tests to
function properly, the new updated software version is required.
For analysis of any test LOT that was manufactured previous to June 1st 2024 and does not
contain a yellow information paper, V1.0 version of the software should be used, in accordance
with the instructions from the chapter above.
The results of samples, controls, or calibration curves created before the installation of the
software V2.0.2.4, can be seen by starting the software V1.0, while the data created after the
installation will be available by starting the software V2.0.2.4.
The compatibility of different tests to work during the same work session is not affected by the
software switch. Please refer to the UNI Test Run Compatibility document.
The control material contained in the test box will, as before, follow the LOT of the cartridge
(the LOT of the finished product).
For all other instructions, use and operations on the UNI analyzer, consult the user manual of
the device.
For issues not related to installation of software version V2.0.2.4 and software switcher, see the
UNI IMMUNOANALYZER - User Manual.
The table below provides a list of possible error messages that appear on the screen after
scanning the cartridges.

Q&A
When having doubts, try these solutions:
1. The UNI session using cartridges manufactured before June 1st 2024 was run on a
software version V2.0.2.4
The test will run, but the expiry date shown in the software will not be in accordance with the
one stated on the test box. It is mandatory to run the test produced before June 1st 2024 on the
software version V1.0.
2. The tests produced after June 1st 2024 are run on UNI software version V1.0
The test cannot be run. After scanning the cartridges, a message “Cartridge expired” will
appear. You need to use the software switcher to switch to the software version V2.0.2.4.
Check the active software version. If you generated the calibration curve in a certain software
version it can be found in the “Calibration” tab of that software version only.
Use the software switcher and switch to V1.0. Using V1.0 you can see and use all your
calibration curves, control results, as well as patient results from UNI generated on software
version V1.0. previous to the update.
5. Can I combine results for the same patient generated from V2.0.2.4 and V1.0
As long as all tests are within their expiry date limit you can run for the same patient some
analysis on V2.0.2.4 and others on V1.0 with appropriate cartridges and combine them for a
complete diagnostic picture
UNI software versions can be differentiated by the background screen and the software version
is indicated in the bottom right corner.
For more details, see page 8, Step 5: How to know which software is currently active?
Check the active software version. If the adequate software is active, continue routinely with
your work. If not, open the software switcher again and choose the appropriate software
version.
Close all software switcher windows except one and continue with your work.
Check the firewall, check the Windows compatibility, check administrator privileges
Repeat the installation process.
11. After usage, I need to reinstall the software V2.0.2.4. Can I still use previously
generated calibration curves and results from V2.0.24.
Yes, you can re-install without losing any existing calibration and control data.
13. My application disappeared from the Start screen. How can I correct this?
15. It is stated in the Release note that the transition period is between June 1st 2024
and December 31 2026. Why? What do I do after that period?
The tests produced before June 1st 2024, may have expiry date up to December 31 2026 which
means they have to be used on UNI software V1.0
After December 31st 2026, only UNI software V2.0.2.4 will be in use
If you do not have tests manufactured before June 1st 2024 on stock, you do not need to use
software switcher to switch to software V1.0
16. Can I run both tests produced before and after June 1st 2024 on the same
software version simultaneously?
