THE BETHANY PRE AND PRIMARY SCHOOL

ACADEMIC TERMINAL REPORT JUNE 2024

I take this chance to thank our LORD, for giving us strength in fulfilling our goals to upgrade
the level of school’s standard, for handling over our children and guiding all over us in
establishing an education hub. I take this immense pleasure to present the academic report
of our school to applies you all how the mission and vision of The Bethany School have
appeared positively, also it showcases our academic shortcomings within this term.
The quality of Teaching and Learning
Our mission is to ‘make good children’ with every child being Literate, Numerate, Happy
and Healthy and to reflect our values through their individual actions and active participation
in our local and global community. We believe that every child can learn and we are
committed to ensuring that pupils develop to their full capacity. Important values like Respect,
Honesty, Cooperation, Caring and Personal Best underpin our decision making and interactions
with each other and our broader school community.

Essential Assessment continued to be used across the school to assess and measure children’s
learning in different subjects. The performance of children is shown in the following graphs;

United Kingdom Volunteers

This term has being a blessing term at our school because of Volunteers from UK who helped
so much our children in Reading programs, class activities and social interaction skills in
conjunction with the teachers. Similarly, our teachers have shared different experiences with
the volunteers, the experiences are helping the teachers in doing their daily activities at
school. This level of support given by volunteers is greatly appreciated by everyone at the
Bethany school.

Our areas of focus (April to June 2024)

1. English language skills; to some point teachers and children are getting better in
using the language than the previously (January – March 2024). Most of children are using the
strategies proposed by the teachers at school. Some of the general effective strategies which
are used by the children are; improved morning speeches, Debates, reading story books to

3. Children’s behaviour; as how it is known that, behaviour accelerates the best
performance of other areas of a child including in academic. All teachers are
working very hard to cooperate with the parents to monitor the behaviour of the
children. Most of children from all classes are behaving well hence their
academic performance is improving. Likewise, some children are misbehaving in
one way or another especially those whose parents do not have positive

Academic challenges at school
 Some children from the village and Bethany family have no story books to read although it
was proposed to read story books for them to improve their English skills.
 Both teachers and pupils are developing in doing common mistakes in English speaking
especially pronunciations and tenses.
 Most of pupils from class five to class seven have low morale of studying Mathematic subject.

Suggestions
a. Children who have no story books can be given so that to make the program of
reading effective to them. This will help the teachers to make effective follow-up of
the program.
b. Teachers are required to improve in pronunciations of English words and tenses so
, that they can be able to correct the children when they are wrong.
c. To build pupils’ engagement and confidence in Mathematics. Teachers should make
children to love learning in all subjects including mathematics.
d. I am suggesting all teachers to know the following points, if possible they can share
to our parents who have also influence to the children’s learning:
i. Every child can learn; just not in the same way, on the same day at the
same pace.
ii. Learning is never done, it is a lifelong voyage.
iii. Learning is a partnership between children, their family and the school.
iv. We all need to develop, evolve, refine and reflect on our practice as part of
continual improvement.
If these points will be known clearly by the facilitators of pupil’s learning (teachers and parents),
it will be easy for them to be flexible when one approach of teaching has failed. Moreover,
teachers, parents and children will be in one page when they are dealing with a particular
children’s learning challenges, like pupils to lose interest in a particular subject,

We are very pleased with the many areas of success and achievement throughout the term and
we have many reasons to believe the next term will be another fantastic term at the Bethany
School. We will continue to identify and focus on areas which need improvement, celebrate our
successes and move forward positively. We welcome any feedback that will assist in the further
development of our School.

Mostly, the Bethany teachers have been generously blessed and I am thankful to them for the
same. To cap it all, I thank the Almighty GOD for His continuous protection over us each and
every moment of the day and all throughout the term.
Thank you very much.

Yours in Christ,
Mathias Thomas Samson
