A. REVIEWING PREVIOUS LESSON
OR PRESENTING THE NEW LESSON

1. Preliminaries
 Prayer
Good morning, class! Before anything else, may
you please stand and let us pray. Anyone who
will lead the prayer?

Ma’am!

Okay, Hanagel lead the prayer.

In the name of our Father, to
the Son and to the Holy
 Greetings Spirit…

Good afternoon, everyone!

Good afternoon, Ma’am!

How are you? How’s your day?

Were fine and feeling great,
Ma’am!

 Checking of Attendance

Wow, that’s good to hear class!

Before we start our lesson for today, let me

check first if no one is absent. So class, can you
please check your seatmates if they are present.

(Pupils will check their

seatmates)

Is there any absent?

No, Ma’am!

That’s great! You are all present today.

 Checking of Assignment
Did I gave you an asignment?

No, Ma’am!

 Reading of the House Rules

Okay, class, if you don’t have an assignment

for us to be check, let us now proceed to our
lesson for today. Are you now ready for a new
adventure to explore?
Yes. Ma’am. We are ready!

So, please sit properly, fasten your seat belts

2|Page
and just focus on me as I introduce to you our
lesson. Understand?

Yes, Ma’am!

Last meeting, what was our topic all about?

 Review of the Previous Lesson Yes, Nhor-ine? Ma’am!

Ma’am our lesson last meeting

was all about multiplication of
Okay, that’s correct, Nhor-ine! Are all of you 2 digits by 1 digit numbers.
here understand our lesson last meeting?

Yes, Ma’am!

B. ESTABLISHING A PURPOSE FOR

THE LESSON

 MOTIVATION

So let me check if you still remember oh how

to multiply 2 digits by 1 digit numbers. I will
group you into 4 groups and we will be having
a Math quiz bee. Are you ready?

Yes, Ma’am!

(Divides the class into 4 groups)

I will give you this cards. This is where you

will put your answer. You will just multiply the
numbers that I am giving to you. The group that
will have a lot of correct answers will
automatically declare as the winner. I will read
the problem twice and you will just have 10
seconds to answer the problem. So here’s the
first problem.

1. 18 x 6 = 108 (reads twice) (counts 1-10)

Please show your answer.

(Each group will show their
answers)

2. 20 x 5 = 100 (reads twice) (counts 1-10)

Please show your answer.

(Each group will show their
answers)

3. 15 x 9 = 135 (reads twice) (counts 1-10)

(Each group will show their

answers)

(Counts the correct answers)

So our winner is the group _____. Let us give

them a round of applause. Congrats, class! You
are now good in multiplying 2 digits by 1 digit
number. (The pupils will give
themselves a round of
applause)

Class, our lesson today was related to the topic

that we discussed last meeting. Our lesson for
today was all about multiplying 2 digits by 1
 READING OF OBJECTIVES digit number again but we are now using
distributive property. And at the end of the
lesson, you - the students will - (Please read the
objective, class). Multiplies 2 digit by 1 digit
numbers using the distributive
property.

Welcome to our new lesson which is

Multiplying 2 digits by 1 digit numbers using
the distributive property.

What is Distributive Property of

Multiplication? Anyone who will read?
Ma’am!
C. PRESENTING EXAMPLES/
INSTANCES OF THE NEW LESSON Okay, please read July Rose.
The distributive property of
multiplication lets you
simplify expressions wherein
you multiply a number by a
sum. According to this
property, the product of a sum
of a number is equal to the
sum of the product.

4|Page
Thank you, July Rose! So class, I will give you
an example for you to understand the
distributive property of multiplication.

I have here 48 x 8. Using the distributive

property, we will first get the tens and ones of
the multiplicand which is the 48. The tens of
48, multiply it by the multiplier which is the 8
and the ones of 48, multiply it also by 8. When
we about to distribute the tens and ones of the
multiplicand and multiply each to the
multiplier, always remember that we are going
to use the operation of addition in the
distributive property of multiplication. We will
be going to use the (+) sign.

Example:

48 x 8

(40 x 8) + (8 x 8)

320 + 64

= 384

If you are going to multiply 48 x 8, the product

was also the same as the sum of the two
products to the numbers that we had multiplied
using the distributive property.

Here’s another example.

15 x 2

(10 x 2) + (5 x 2)

20 + 10

= 30

I have here some problem to answer. Anyone

who will solve the problem on the board?

46 x 9
D. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS Ma’am!
AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS #1

Okay, Denmark come to the front. 46 x 9

(40 x 9) + (6 x 9)

360 + 54

5|Page
That’s correct, Denmark. Lets give him a round = 414
of applause!

Next problem.

55 x 7

Ma’am!
Okay, Risty.

55 x 7

(50 x 7) + (5 x 7)

350 + 35

= 385

E. DISCUSSING NEW CONCEPTS

AND PRACTICING NEW SKILLS #2

Okay, so now we will going to do the activity

called “Top 10”. I will give you one problem to
solve and if you are done answering you may
fall in line and I will check you answers. The
first 10 students who got the correct answer
will be our top 10 for today’s activity. You may
write your answer in your scratch papers. I
want to see the solution and the answer. Are
you now ready?
F. DEVELOPING MASTERY Yes, Ma’am!

(LEADS TO FORMATIVE
So, here’s the problem.
ASSESSMENT 3)
52 x 8 = (50 x 8) + (2 x 8) = 400 + 16 = 416

(The pupils will do the said

activity)

We have now our top 10! Give them a round of

applause.
(The pupils will clap)

G. FINDING PRACTICAL
APPLICATIONS OF CONCEPTS AND
SKILLS IN DAILY LIVING
Everyday class, we are using multiplication.
You didn’t notice it but in your daily living,
you actually using multiplication inside and
outside of your home.

6|Page
I know for sure that all of you here are now
handling money. Some of you are sharing stuffs
between your friends and cutting foods into
portions. All of this activities, you are actually
starting building up your multiplication skills as
part of your daily lives. That is why we are
discussing multiplication for you to improve
and develop more your skills in multiplying
numbers and the things around you.

Do you now understand on how to multiply 2

digits by 1 digit number using distributive
property?

Yes, Ma,am.

Okay, so how we multiply 2 digits by 1 digit

number using distributive property? Anyone
from the class?
Ma’am!

Yes, Kenneth
Ma’am we should get first the
tens and ones of the
multiplicand.

Excellent! If I have here 12 x 3, what is the tens

and ones of 12?

Ma’am, 10 and 2.
H. MAKING GENERALIZATIONS Very good, Marisol. So what’s the next step?
AND ABSTRACTIONS ABOUT THE
LESSON
Ma’am we will now multiply
tens and ones to the multiplier.

Very good, Elyca. So we have now (10 x 3) and

what is the other operation that we should use?

Ma’am, addition.
That’s correct, Rochelle. So, (10 x 3) + (2 x 3).
the next step?
Ma’am!

Yes, Jebelyn?
We will now get the products
of the two factors and we will
add the products to get the
final answer.
Very good, Jebelyn! So if we have (10 x 3) + (2
x 3), the products of this two factors are?

30 and 6, Ma’am!

7|Page
Correct, class. We have now the products of the
two factors. So we will now add 30 + 6, what is
the answer?

Ma’am!

Yes, Glorfel?

The answer is 36, Ma’am.

Awesome! That’s correct. The product of 12 x

3 is 36. It seems that you now understand on
how to multiply 2 digits by 1 digit number
using distributive property. Give yourselves a
round of applause, class!

Get a 1 whole sheet of paper and try to answer our activity today. Here’s the
direction.

Rewrite the equations using the distributive property and find the answer.

Example: 3 x 23 = (3 x 20) + ( 3 x 3) = 60 + 9 = 69

1. 26 x 4
I. EVALUATING LEARNING
2. 24 x 8

3. 35 x 9

4. 55 x 5

5. 72 x 6
