Learning with personal electronic devices
A. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Help learners get started with some vocabulary in Unit 8 related to “Learning with
personal electronic devices”.
2. Skills:
- Listening: listen to a conversation about Learning with personal electronic devices.
-Reading: read the conversation to do the “True or False” task.
- Speaking: discussing to answer the questions based on the conversation.
3. Attitude:
- Students understand more about the electronic devices they can use to learn.
- Students have a positive attitude and know how to use these personal electronic devices
effectively.

GAME: Skimming: -T shows this game and runs through.

-T says: “ First, I would like to divide

Vocabulary:

 CHECKING VOCABULARY AND
PRONUNCIATION GAME:
GAME: Slap the board:
The teacher writes these new words
randomly on the board.
-T shows the game and runs
through.
- T puts the vocabulary items on
the board randomly.
- T divides the class into 2
groups and gives the meaning
for one of the words on the
board.
-Ss have to recognize the English
word. Then Ss run to the board
and slap the correct word.
-The first person in each group to
slap the right word gets a point.
Introduction into the new unit: -The group having more points is
the winner.
-Lead-in: we have learned some new
words and now to know how these words
are used in the context we will move to
the next part.

The eliciting pictures:


-T shows the pictures on the
screen and asks Ss to observe
the pictures.
Task 1: Listen and read:
-T elicits the topic with some
questions about the pictures,
e.g. What devices do you see in
the pictures? What are the
people doing with the devices?...
- T asks some Ss to stand up and
describe these pictures.
-T gives feedback.

- T shows task 1 on the screen and runs


through.
-T tells Ss that they are going to
listen to a conversation between
friends.
- T lets Ss make predictions
about the topic and the content
of their conversation.
-T invites some Ss to give their
predictions.
-T tells Ss not to worry about the new
words or grammar points because these
will be dealt with later.
- T lets Ss open their textbook.
-T plays the recording for Ss to listen and
read the conversation at the same time.
- Ss read the conversation while listening
to the recording.

Read the conversation again and check if
the following statements are true (T),
false (F), or not given (NG).

predict whether these statements are true
or false.

decide if the statements are true (T), false
(F), or not given (NG).
-T invites randomly to receive the
