5Marks:
■ Format : 1
– Headlines and Reporter’s Name
■ Content : 2
■ Expression : 2
– Grammatical accuracy, appropriate words and spellings – 1 mark
– Coherence (systematic and logical) and relevance (related to the matter)of ideas
and style – 1 mark
■ Word Limit – 120 – 150 words
Format:
■ Headline
■ Byline – name of the reporter
■ Date and place (newspaper reports)
■ Opening paragraph
■ Details (next two or three paragraphs)
■ Concluding statement
Points to Remember:
■ Be brief, to the point and very systematic
■ Report an event in the order in which it happened
■ Give it
– A bold heading / title
– Name of the reporter
– Date of report (in case of news paper report)
■ write the report in 3 – 4 paragraphs like this
– Para 1 – brief introduction of the event
– Para 2 and 3 –give details of the incident – what, how, when, where, any special
happening
– Para 4 – concluding remarks regarding action taken or required
■ In case of School Magazine Reports, date and place need not be written.
■ In Newspaper Reports, date and time is a must
■ Follow the word limit
Value points: Most of the reports are based on accidents & functions. If students keep these
value points in mind, they can write a very good report.
