Technical information

2. Firmware updates
1. Create a new folder in computer connected to the unit.
2. Copy all files (firmware and s2terminal) from the CD’s folder <RUK_Firmware> to the new folder.
3. Start CMD-prompt and go into the newly created folder.
4. Start s2terminal from that directory.

®
5. Switch on the SCANORA 3D unit and carry out the initialization steps in order to get the unit
ready for a new patient.
6. Connect s2terminal to the unit.
7. First upgrade all cores in the following order; wait for each upgrade to be completed before
starting a new one. The S2terminal will inform you when each upgrade is complete.
<xcc gui>
<xcc r3400>
<xcc r3300>
<xcc r3200>
If you have any problems during upgrade, DO NOT switch the unit off, but carry out the particular
upgrade again.
8. After <xcc r3200> the unit reboots itself, wait until the unit has been initialized normally.
Note: All core version info that is displayed at this point is old and unchanged.
The core upgrades will only come into effect after the unit has been restarted.
9. Switch the unit off.

IMPORTANT:
Read the following section BEFORE restarting the unit as the following tasks MUST be
carried out within a limited time period.

Unit must be in boot mode for the main firmware upgrade. To enter the boot mode:
10. Switch the unit back on.
11. Wait until the text CBCT R3200 boot 2.14.1929> appears on the s2terminal screen. Then, type in
safe (the word will appear between the count down times) and then press Enter within the count-
down period (see image below).

If you do not type in the word “safe” quickly enough (before the count down time-period ends) the
unit will continue to start up and WILL NOT enter the boot mode. If this happens restart the unit
and try again.

NOTE! Make absolutely sure that you are in the boot mode before proceeding. The text
“Staying in boot mode” on the s2terminal confirms this. If the unit is NOT in the boot mode
the following steps may corrupt the flash memory!
