VERIFYING SERIES, PARALLEL AND SERIES-PARALLEL

CONNECTION

Objective:
The primary objective of this experiment is to verify the behavior of the LED
bulbs when connected in series, parallel, and series-parallel. This will also compare
the measurement of the total resistance, current and voltage for esach
configuration.

Instruction:
Write all the materials and the procedure on the space provided. Create a table for
your measurement or your acquired data.

Materials:
.Resistor
.Wires
.Bulb
.Multi-meter tester
.Beard Board

Procedure:

1. Given on the illustration on the board for Circuit 1, set up the LED's, resistor, and
wire on the breadboard.

2. After the set up, connect the multimeter in resistance measurement to the
breadboard across the resistor and LED's

3. Connect circuit to the power source

4.Measure the voltage individually (resistor and LED's) and get its total current using
the multimeter in series.

5. Repeat steps 1-3 for Circuit 2 and 3.

Acquired Data:

Reading:

Circuit 1 Circuit 3

Resistor: 1.26 V Resistor: 5.05V

White Bulb: 2.91V Green Bulb: 2. 11V

Green Bulb: 2. 01 V Orange Bulb: 2.12V

Blue Bulb: 2.88V Red Bulb 2.12V

Total current: 12.8 mA Total Current: 50.3 mA

Total Voltage:9.00V Total Voltage: 9.31V

Circuit 2

Resistor: 1.74 ۷

Red Bulb: 3.45V

White Bulb: 3.44V

Blue Bulb 3.44V

Total Curent: 154.6 mA

Total Voltage: 5.34V

Questions:
1. In all the configuration or connections, why does the voltage drop
across each resistor vary, while the current remains constant?

-So why does the voltage drop across each resistor vary, while the current remains constant its because
all resistors in a series circuit have a constant current flowing ,but different voltage drop, that’s why the
voltage drop of a resistor will be greater for higher resistors and smaller for lower resistors.

2. Based on your results, how do the actual measurements of resistance,

current, and voltage compare to the theoretical predictions?

-So based on our result of actual measurements of the resistance ,current and the
voltage .We compare to the theoretical predictions its may slightly different because
of the adjustable voltage regulator its seems have defffects that’s why it have slightly
differences between the theoretical predictions.

3. In what types of real-world applications might you find resistors connected in

series, parallel, or series-parallel configurations?

-So resistors are commonly used in a seriel ,parallel or series parallel configuration in various real world
applications .Like Christmas light they have a series circuit or a parallel circuit to used ,the car or
motorcycle headlights they connected to a parallel circuit if a bulb burns out the other will still works. The
Audio amplifiers its used to a series parallel circuit to provide different voltahe levels .
