1. A chemical spill has occurred. What steps should be taken in treating the chemical
spill?

If someone has been splashed with chemicals, flush the affected area with water for
at least 15 minutes. Call for help and alert the laboratory instructor or any supervisor.
Assess and identify the spill, make sure to let everyone stay out of the affected area.
Remain calm and determine the right course of action in controlling the spill and
execute it. Stop the main source of the spill and contain it. Clean-up the spill and
dispose the chemical and materials used properly. Finally, decontaminate the affected
area if needed.

2. Describe how you will be dressed when you are about to begin an experiment in the
laboratory.

I will wear a pair of approved safety goggles, lab gloves, a shirt that covers the
stomach and lower back as well as the upper arms, long pants that covers the bottom
half of the body, a lab coat, and shoes that completely cover my feet.
