Estágio I - Diary
Estágio I - Diary
I’m 21years old, I began to study English when I was 12 years old, at Yázigi Internexus. But
before this English was already a target of my interest. I used to turn over the pages of my parent’s
English old books from High School and used to imagine what was written there. A little later I
started to listen do some music in English and wonder what they were saying.
When I started to study at Yázigi I completely “fell in love” with this language. When my
house began to have access to the internet I started to see he lyrics of some music and tried to
translate them with a dictionary. When I was 14, I went to San Diego, California and spent 1 month
there. This experience was wonderful to me, it made me much more interested in English.
When I was 18 I finished High School and needed to choose a Graduation Course. At first I
wanted to do “Translation and Interpretation” graduation course, but here in Manaus we do not
have it on Federal Universities, so I chose “Letras – Língua Inglesa” because English always was
something that I really enjoyed.
To graduate we are supposed to give classes at CEL Proyect, so here I am… But I never saw
myself as a teacher, I do not hate this professional but I really think it does not suit me.
Fortunately, I got a very nice class, and this is not being a torture as I thought it would be, it
is helping me to put an end in my shyness.
The students
1. Aldo Ramos da Silva Jr: He is a very talkative student, it is good because he is very
participative, and he is not shy at all, even though he does not know how to read something.

Classroom events
The class on this day began with a kind of problem, because when I arrived at the room all the
students were outside of it, due to the fact that the room was completely dirty with coffee powder,
wheat, eggs and paint, it was a result of the “welcoming” of the freshmen of the Management Course
on the previous day.
It was a problem because the Coordination took a very long time to get another room which
could be used by us and the students got upset about it.
When we finally got into a class I asked the students to divide themselves among groups of 5
people to do a special exercise. I brought them some advertisements of some supermarkets with lots of
pictures os food. They were supposed to cut those pictures and divide them into Countable and
Uncountable nouns and to write down their names. With this I wanted them to practice this Grammar
point and also practice the vocabulary. They did very good works, this activity was very succesful.
They went to the coffee break and when they came back we started another activity. I asked
them to redivide them into groups of 3 people. Each group received a “Menu” and they were supposed
to prepare a conversation in a restaurant, one orders a meal and the waiter writes it down, the other
person orders another meal, then they ake for the bill, etc.
I decided to do this activity because was visible their need to practice more this kind of
expressions, that they had learned in the previous class ansd also because they asked me to give them a
opportunity to practice conversations before the Final Oral Test, that will take place on June 24 th. I
asked them to avoid writing and reading when they were presenting, to give more emphasis to the oral
aspect of the activity.
They presented very good conversations, some of them were very funny and well elaborated, of
course that some groups were much more spontaneous then others, some brought their papers to the
front of the class and read it, some spoke what their imagination produced durind the presentations.
To finish the class I asked them to read at home the first pages of Unit 8, which we will began
next Saturday.
