Some people fall out with the idea that zoos are not grim prisons. Do you agree?

It is widely known that zoos are suffering severe onslaught criticism put down to the conditions wild
animals are kept. This reality leads to a large amount of citizens to stage a protest against their
continuity. On the contrary, it is constantly thought that only a small portion of the society give thought
to the fact that most of them are useful resources to provide the general public with educational
information about their existence. And, I strongly agree on that.
Firstly, I highly believe that zoos should not be considered grim prisons since the majority of them are
thought to preserve the shrinking wild populations. Most of the endangered species in the wild are
constantly threaten by hunters who illegally hunt them for their horns and trunks. As a consequence
of this, zoos take the responsibility to take care of the wild animals. Another important factor to
consider is that zoos have a fully potential to educate us through their educational programmes. Such
programmes provide young children with information to improve their attitude towards the animal
kingdom. Subsequently, zoos also entertain us and help us to unwind the stress from the hustle and
bustle of the society and the tumble in our everyday life. They can perfectly be defined as an antidote
to a day at the office.
Secondly, opponents to this view strongly believe that zoos are considered grim prisons due to the
captivity and confined spaces in which they are kept. It is important to highlight the fact that a
considerable portion of the population is insulated from the reality of struggle and death most
endangered species experience in the animal kingdom. Humans limit this thought to the wrong idea
they get from the censored electronic imagery of television. As a consequence of this, individuals
tend to think that, living in the wild, the animals are happy, free, unstressed, motivated, and fulfilled,
without noticing that this attitude towards animal kingdom is a ludicrous perversion. In fact, wild
populations are in a constant struggle for survival.
Finally, taking everything into consideration, the society must become consciously aware of the role
of modern zoos in preservation and conservation of wild animals in danger of extinction. All in all, not
only will we be able to get a better picture of the species surrounding us, but also we will be able to
get a highly understanding of their globally ecologically importance.
