children how electromagnets and magnetic fields work. These projects can
resolve a lot of issues in many schools in tier two and three cities that don't
have proper infrastructure. Another is working on an excavation site to teach
children about ancient Indian civilizations. It has implanted a few artifacts at
the site, which the children will have to find so that they are able to learn how
to preserve and label artifacts. Another start up has proposed to create
miniaturized labs for schools in tier 2 and 3 cities where children can learn

project talking about the importance of indigenously-built educational toys.
4. Playtime is vital for the cognitive development of children and toys are an
essential component that helps enhance specific cognitive abilities and skill

Subject: Simple weddings better than exuberant ones
Sir,
Through the medium of this letter, I would like to express my concern over the
meaningless display of wealth during weddings these days. In the present day, lavish
weddings have become a trend. Hotels, farmhouses and banquet halls are booked months
in advance. Even lower-middle-class families are entertaining more than a thousand guests
and consequently, they have to pay debts for months and sometimes for years too. No
stone is left unturned to fulfill the desire of pretentiousness of being affluent in front of
society. There is no denying of the fact that a wedding is indeed an important occasion but
this moment of joy should not become a burden for families. We need to invite only our
relatives and close friends for a wedding. An overcrowded gathering only leads to chaos
and unnecessary expenditure. It is always better to have a simple wedding ceremony and
an amount can be set aside to give to the couple to start their new life.
I hope my letter gets some space in your newspaper so that, through this trusted medium,
people understand that money should not unnecessarily be wasted on exuberant wedding
celebrations but should be used to invest in building the foundation of a happy married
life.
Yours sincerely

- Nishi/Nishant
In terms of growth and progress, India has come a long way, but it still has a long way to
go. Empowering young children through education is a pathway toward advancement and
improvement. When girls attend school, they are more inclined to exert effort, assist
others, and create improved prospects for themselves and their families Education
provides girls with financial independence that is crucial for poverty eradication and
gender equality. Besides, it converts the non-productive population into productive ones.
Educated girls can engage in decision-making, fostering a fairer society. Additionally,
educating females breaks poverty cycles and enhances family health. In conclusion,
educating girls is morally imperative and strategically beneficial for our nation's future.
Investing in their education enhances opportunities for all.

11. Answer any two of the following questions in 40-50 words each:
(i) The objective of the 'Students on Ice programme' was to take High School students to
the limits of the world and provide them not only with inspiring opportunities in
education but also enable them to understand and respect our planet. The idea was to
provide them with a life-changing experience at an age when they are ready to absorb,
learn and most importantly act.
(ii) In The Tiger King by Kalki, the Dewan had brought a tiger from the People's Park in
Madras and kept it hidden in his house. When the Maharaja threatened him with dire
consequences, he understood that the only way to save himself was to 'plant' a tiger for
the kill. So, he and his aged wife dragged the tiger to the forest where the king was
hunting.
(iii)In “Journey to the End of the Earth,” Tishani Doshi reflects on her experience with the
“Students on Ice” program, which takes high school students to Antarctica to educate
them about climate change and the environment. She considers the program invaluable
because it provides young people with a firsthand understanding of the planet’s fragility
and the urgent need for environmental conservation.

12. In a strange dream, I encountered several individuals who enlightened me on their

philosophies. Robert Frost, the poet of ‘A Roadside Stand’, agreed with my philosophy of
the world being a rattrap. He cited the miserable condition of the poor people of the
countryside who are ignored by the city people and the government. He highlights the
innocence and ignorance of these poor people who expect from the rich and government
agencies for support in vain. He believed that the truths like sympathy and humanity that
he seeks, and presents are innate in the human heart and the common objects, which
people may and often do know, but forget.
On the other hand, Pablo Neruda, the poet of Keeping Quiet, disagreed with Frost and
emphasized the significance of mindfulness, introspection, and retrospection which leads
to unity and brotherhood. He believed that we should take a moment to pause and reflect
on our actions and thoughts to create a better world.
Lastly, Gandhi from Indigo dissuaded me from making wrong choices and explained to
me the value of self-reliance even during tough times. He believed that we should not rely
on others to solve our problems and should take responsibility for our own lives.
This dream has taught me that there are different perspectives on life, and it is essential to
consider them all before making any decisions. I have learned that it is important to reflect
on my actions and thoughts and take responsibility for my own life. I will try to
incorporate these lessons into my life and become a better person.

Beauty, in its various forms, has long captivated the minds and hearts of poets and thinkers
throughout history. John Keats and Pablo Neruda, two renowned poets, explore the
concept of beauty in their works, drawing attention to the enduring nature of its allure and
the tranquility it brings.
In Keats' poem, he presents the idea that beauty will never "pass into nothingness." It will
always remain, providing a serene refuge for us. This notion of eternal beauty resonates
with the idea of a "bower quiet," a peaceful sanctuary where one can find solace and rest.
Keats further describes this state as a sleep full of sweet dreams, health, and quiet
breathing. It evokes a sense of tranquility and inner peace that beauty can bring.
Similarly, Neruda's poem emphasizes the beauty of quietness. He invites the reader to
keep quiet while he counts up to twelve, suggesting that in moments of silence, one can
attain inner clarity and a deeper understanding of oneself and the world. The act of
keeping quiet allows for introspection and reflection, enabling one to find peace and
stillness amidst the chaos of life.
The common connection that runs through these phrases is the idea of finding serenity and
tranquility through beauty and quietness. Both Keats and Neruda highlight the importance
of embracing moments of stillness and appreciating the enduring allure of beauty. They
remind us of the value of finding solace in the simple pleasures of life and the significance
of inner peace.
In a world filled with noise and distractions, it is essential to pause, reflect, and appreciate
the beauty that surrounds us. Whether it is the timeless beauty that Keats describes or the
quietness that Neruda advocates, these moments of respite allow us to rejuvenate our souls
and find balance in our lives.
In conclusion, the writings of Keats and Neruda offer profound insights into the enduring
nature of beauty and the tranquility it brings. They remind us to cherish moments of
stillness, appreciate the beauty that surrounds us, and seek inner clarity. By embracing
these concepts, we can find solace, peace, and a deeper connection with ourselves and the
world around us.
13. 'Lamey Lamb', yes that's what we called that man who lived alone in a big house. Then
one day a boy called Derry entered his garden and we saw them getting well along with
each other and having long chats in the garden. We had found the common connection
between the two, which was their uniqueness, Derry had a burnt face and Mr. Lamb had a
tin leg. As a child, it was due to our prejudice against those who could not be categorized
as "normal" because of their physical deformity that we behaved that way. Now, I
apprehend how lonely the old man would have been. The whole day he sat in the sun and
read books which proved that books were his only true friends. Once he told Derry that he
was interested in anybody or anything that God has created. It may be a person, flower,
fruit, grass, weeds, or rubbish. I mean who on earth has such a big heart to be interested in
everything? This man did not use curtains in his house because he wanted to enjoy both
light and darkness. When I contemplate now, I realise that all these were the signs of his
loneliness and also his ways of overcoming it.

Most often I wonder whom I would have married if I had not met Hana. She has been such
a great support to me through my thick and thins that words of thanks would not just be
sufficient. The incident where she went against herself to stand by me was my decision to
help the American prisoner of war. I could very well notice how she had to struggle to
reconcile her loyalty to her country with her moral duty. Not only she went against her
loyalty but also assisted me in the medical operations and the anesthetics while I was
operating on Tom (the American prisoner) because Yumi, the nurse had refused to do so.
She even managed all the chores herself when the servants left our home in protest.
Despite being married for so many years, she is still the same loving wife. She has been
my emotional anchor and has helped me navigate any moral dilemma that I have faced
until now.
