Practical No.1

Import the legacy data from different sources such as ( Excel , SqlServer, Oracle etc.)
and load in the target system. ( You can download sample database such as
Adventureworks, Northwind, foodmart etc.)

For this Practical we use Adventureworks Database(advantureworkdw.bak) So First We have to restore


the database.

Open SQL Server Management Studio 2012 and Login with SQL Server Authentication

Enter username = sa and password = set during installation.

Browse for Location

Practical No.1(a) Importing Data From SQL SERVER to Power BI

Open the Microsoft Power BI, Go to GetData and Select SQL Server

Enter SQL Server name which is JOKER in this case.

Select the Database and select the table to import.

Practical No. 1(b) Import the SQL Server Database tables in Microsoft Excel

Open Microsoft Excel. Select From Other Sources -> From SQL Server

Enter Server name and user name and Password of SQL server
