Design of Solar PV System
Design of Solar PV System
Solar photovoltaic system or solar power system is one of renewable energy system
which uses PV modules to convert sunlight into electricity. The electricity generated can be
stored or used directly, fed back into grid line or combined with one or more other electricity
generators or more renewable energy source. Solar PV system is very reliable and clean
source of electricity that can suit a wide range of applications such as residence, industry,
agriculture, street lighting, etc.
Components Information
Solar Street lights are consists of the solar panel, LED lamp, solar controller, gel battery,
battery box, lighting pole, detachable panel bracket and foundation kit.
= 0.95 modules
3. Inverter sizing
Total Watt of all appliances 77 W
For safety, the inverter should be considered 25-30% bigger size.
The inverter size should be about 100.1 W or greater.
4. Battery sizing
Total appliances use = (77W x 12 hours)
Nominal battery voltage = 2X12V = 24 V
Days of autonomy = 1 days
Note: For more technical details of LED Lamp and pole, please refer to Street Lighting
Calculation sheets which are attached to design documents.
More detail:
1. Battery Hanging
Mounting battery box on the pole to prevent the battery inside from being stolen. By placing the battery
into steel battery box and mount the battery box on the pole, this design gains great ability to guard against
theft.
2. Battery Buried
This design is the most common one. Placing battery into plastic battery box and then bury it underground.
3. Battery Top
This model is widely applied at places where security demand on the battery is high. By placing the battery
into steel battery box and fix the battery box on top.
