Management of Rafedia Main Corridor. (Ethar Aqel ,Saja Yameen and Khaireya
Soqia, 2012). The authors implemented the project to achieve several aims, The main
objective of study is to analyze and improve the existing conditions of Rafedia
Corridor, authors made a number of field visits to the road as well as office visits to
obtain the geometric and traffic data. Data analysis was done manually and using
utilizing Highway Capacity Software (HCS2000) to analysis capacity and Level-of-
Service (LOS) analysis and simulating the existing road network of Rafedia Corridor
using Synchro 7 software. (Ethar Aqel ,Saja Yameen and Khaireya Soqia, 2012).
They recommended to Install proper traffic control devices, install traffic signals on
the recommended intersections, regulate on-street parking along Rafedia Corridor &
prevent the parking on some recommended locations and improve geometric design &
pavement marking along Rafedia Corridor.(Ethar Aqel ,Saja Yameen and Khaireya
Soqia, 2012).
Yasin A. Abu Alrob, Wadee N. Harash and Jawad T. Horani their study revolves the
Traffic Management of Hai Al-Montazah-Nablus. (Yasin A. Abu Alrob ,Wadee N.
Harash and Jawad T. Horani, 2014) The authors implemented the project to achieve
several aims, The main objectives of study are to investigate whether the road
network and intersections are able to accommodate the future traffic, volume, and to
make the necessary actions such as the redesigning the roads with regard to
geometric, traffic and geotechnical considerations, authors made a number of field
visits to the road as well as office visits to obtain the geometric and traffic data. Data
analysis was done manually and using Microsoft excel and Autodesk Civil 3D to get
the desired results. They recommended that prohibiting parking along some streets,
redesigning signal timing, providing a new traffic signal, converting some streets to
one-way direction and proposing a bridge connecting between Shwaitreh Street and
Hamdi Kanaan Street. (Yasin A. Abu Alrob ,Wadee N. Harash and Jawad T. Horani,
2014).
Mahfouz Hassoun, Fadi Jarraraa and Amjad Khuffash their study revolves the Traffic
Analysis & Design for Al-Biereh City Network. (Mahfouz Hassoun, Fadi Jarraraa and
Amjad Khuffash, 2014) . The authors implemented the project to achieve several
aims, which are to design or Re-design a suitable traffic control devices to maintain
an acceptable level of service (LOS), authors made a number of field visits to the road
as well as office visits and websites to obtain the geometric and traffic data. Data
analysis was done manually and using Microsoft excel and Autodesk drawing to get
the desired results, and using Synchro software to represent the current and modified
traffic situation and compare the results with the objectives that were required to be
achieved by the authors in the project. They recommended that the study area should
be expand (Escape Streets), public transport & parking study and improve the law
enforcement (Municipality Police).(Mahfouz Hassoun, Fadi Jarraraa and Amjad
Khuffash, 2014).
They recommended that the Palestine Tower causes great congestion in this corridor,
so this construction should have restrictions on the owners and beneficiaries of this
facility, major improvements to the entire network should be seriously considered,
such as establishing a new central public transportation station, more legal monitoring
is required on this part out of the way to prevent any misuse of it, more support is
required for public transportation from the government by promoting it to the people
and making it more functional (Mohammed Maloul and Mohammed Mahameed,
2018). The authors of this study did not cover any points related to the topic of
sustainability and the environment, and this reflects a deficiency in the existing study.
Mohammad Ghassan BazBaz and Mahmoud Daoud Mustafa (2018), their study
revolves the assessment and redesign of the Sarda-Abu Qash Road. The authors
implemented the aforementioned project to achieve several goals, which are to
evaluate the current condition related to the targeted road, compare the current
condition with international specifications, redesign the roads in accordance with the
standards as much as possible, reduce the levels of air pollution and noise resulting
from vehicular traffic, and reduce the cost to users (fuel consumption) (Mohammad
Ghassan BazBaz and Mahmoud Daoud Mustafa, 2018),the authors made a number of
field visits to the road as well as office visits and websites to obtain the survey data
file taken from the Vertex consulting office in Ramallah, online, and answered queries
and gave a quick overview of the scope of the project such as land surveying, Geo-
MoLG Traffic enumeration, methods and techniques. Data analysis was done
manually and using Microsoft excel and Autodesk Civil 3D to get the desired results.
(Mohammad Ghassan BazBaz and Mahmoud Daoud Mustafa, 2018).They
recommended that the road has to be reconstructed as two-lane road, with a lane
width wider than the current situation, some constructions should be removed or
shifted backward within the proposed right of way, drainage system design, traffic
operational analysis, lightening, and alternative roads transportation, to mitigate the
traffic congestion, make stations for buses and taxis by providing spaces along the
roads at selected locations, conduct study for the required lighting system in the road,
maybe a solar cells system could be used to save some money also to protect the
environment ,there are some signboards should be removed since it prevents the
vision on the road especially at the intersections (Mohammad Ghassan BazBaz and
Mahmoud Daoud Mustafa, 2018).
Although this was not mentioned directly in the previous studies, such studies face
obstacles in collecting data due to its lack of availability in a specific place, in
addition to restrictions in the scope of alternatives, that is, the number of solutions
proposed to solve the problems is limited despite the possibility expanding the study
and arriving at additional solutions that support sustainability. One consideration that
was not considered or was considered secondary goals in the previous two studies is
the sustainable design of the different methods with sustainability criteria included in
the evaluation and analysis metrics in the studies. Our research and study in the sixth
semester will focus on sustainable analysis, and this gives an additional positive point
for our project to be comprehensive of all standards for road design and traffic
evaluation.
