1. Set apart a place for study.

2. Set apart some time - perhaps six days a week - for study

3. Draw up a daily schedule,

4. Make a weekly study plan.

5. An ”average” student aiming for a pass degree should work a forty-hour

week, which includes contact hours and private study.

6. Work through past exam papers as it gets closer to exam time.

7. Know your faculty

Apply Kirchhoff’s Current Law (KCL) at node V1 :

V1 V1 − V2
=
1kΩ 1kΩ
Use KVL for the loop containing R2 , R3 , and the current source I2 = 1A:

V2 − V1 = 1V

Solving the system of equations:

(
V1 1 −V2
1kΩ
= V1kΩ
V2 − V1 = 1V

The results are:

V1 = −1V, V2 = 0V

The current through R3 is:

V1 − V2 −1V − 0V
i= = = −1mA
R3 1kΩ
Thus, the current through R3 is -1 mA

Solve the circuit and find the voltage at nodes V1 and V2 .

Figure 2: Circuit diagram for problem Q3

We are given a voltage source V1 = 12V and the following resistors:

R2 = 100Ω R4 = 50Ω R3 = 80Ω R5 = 20Ω
Use KVL, we can analyze the loop and find the voltage drops across each
resistor. We will first set up the equations for the node voltages V1 and V2 .
At node V1 , the current entering the node equals the current leaving it.

V1 V1 − V2
+ =0
R2 R4
At node V2 , the current through R4 , R5 , and R3 will give us another
equation:
V2 − V1 V2 12 − V2
+ =
R4 R3 R5
We now solve the two equations simultaneously to find V1 and V2 .
