DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Region VII

FARAON NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Faraon, Jagna, Bohol
I. Objectives: At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
a. Discuss the basic concepts of electricity (voltage, current, resistance);
b. Define Ohm’s Law; and
c. Calculate voltage, current, and resistance.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic : Basic Concepts in Electrical Installation and Maintenance
Code : TLE_IAEI10/8UT-0a1-3
Time Allotment: 45 Minutes
Materials : Bulbs, Wire, Battery, Switch, PPT

III. Procedures
A. Introductory Activities
 -Prayer
 -Checking of Attendance
 Drill (Pre-test)

B. Motivation : Call someone in the class to do the activity in front.

Attraction by a charged object

Supplies and Materials: Comb and Small pieces of paper
Procedures: 1. Put the tip of your comb near the small pieces of paper. What happened?
2. Rub your comb briskly with a dry woolen cloth.
3. Again, put the tip of your comp towards some tiny pieces of paper. What happened to
the tiny pieces of paper? Compare your observation with the second step.

C. Presentation of the Lesson

 Watch a short video presentation about the electron theory.

D. Discussion of the Lesson

 Explain and simplify the concept of understanding electricity.
 Introduce the idea of Ohm’s law and its function in understanding electricity.
 Solve and interpret the three primary forces of electricity.
E. Generalization
 Call the students to answer the following questions:
 What is electricity?
 What are the components of the simple electric circuit?
 What is the electron theory?
F. Application
 Group the students into two, and let each group illustrate a complete concept of a basic electric
circuit with complete components.
IV. Evaluation
I. Write the letter of the correct answer.
_____1. The unit of measurement used for current electricity.
a. Ampere b. Ohms c. Volt d. Watt
_____2. It is the rate of flow of electrical current in the circuit.
a. Ampere b. Ohms c. Volt d. Watt
_____3. It describes the relationship between current, voltage, and resistance.
a. Power Law b. Wattage Law c. Motion Law d. Ohms Law
_____4. The negatively charged particles are called ______________.
a. neutron b. proton c. electron d. votron
_____5. The force that pushes current through electrical circuits.
a. voltage b. current c. resistance d. power

B. Provide what is being asked. Show your calculation in another sheet of paper.
1. What is the potential difference across an electrical load that has a resistance of 4 Ω and a current of 3 A
flowing through it?
2. Calculate the current an electric clothes dryer draws when it is connected to a 230 V source and has a
resistance of 9.2 Ω.
3. What is the resistance in a circuit if a potential difference of 110 V causes a current of 10 A?
4. What is the potential difference across a hand-held fan that has a resistance of 120 Ω and a current of 50
mA flowing through it?
5. An electric toaster has a resistance of 12 Ω. What current will it draw from a 120 V supply?

C. Illustrate a simple circuit and name its components.

V. Assignment
 Look around your household and determine a simple circuit with loads, sources, and path.
